1994 toyota corolla turns over but wont start

The car started and drove a mile. Engine died. Now it wont start. It turns over. Battery is fine. I replaced the starter. I hosed down the engine two days before all of this because I had a valve cover gasket leak that sprayed the hood and motor with oil. I degreased and hosed it off. I started the motor and let it run after cleaning. I think it may be the fuel pump, fp relay, distributor cap. Not sure. Thanks for any help with this.

If you can, air dry the complete engine compartment where you used water to clean it. Possibly a few electrical connectors to the ignition system are wet. If you can disconnect these and air dry them, it may help. If you have not performed any type of maintenance like tune up, good time to do so.

You need an aftermarket serviice manual from Haynes or Chilton. They will have that kind of info.
I know of no car (I don't know them all) where that is needed and depending on the cover material (sheet steel or cast), could lead to warping and new leaks. I always use a thin film of silicone whether it is specified or not and there are torque specs for ALL valve covers I have ever seen.

If your battery is more than three years check liquid level . measure its voltage to maintain over 12.5 volts. If not replace it.

On my 89 gt it would die going down the highway at 75, it ended up being the throttle position switch. As for not starting I'd look into the ignition. Mine went out and Ive bypassed a push-to-start button through the firewall because I don't even want to deal with the steering coloumn.

check if there is oil on the belt, sound like the front crank seal is leaking

Look for a lose connection at the crank shaft sensor. This is a signal needed for obtaining tachometer as well as turning on the fuel pump.

If you drove it without oil and it heated up enough you seized the engine and you are out of luck. Engine rebuild or replacement is your only option. Check this out with a mechanic first before getting crazy though.

My 2005 Chrysler Pacifica automatically dies as soon as I shut the car off, but will start once jumped, it has a new battery....what is the problem?

Can be loose battery connection,or weak starter motor/solenoid.Sometimes new battery even comes weak/faulty.Get the battery bench tested at local car garage.

1994 toyota corolla started up engine shakes, engine rattle, drove home with little acceleration. car died will not start, radiator was hot but oil was ok and I saw no water leaks.

2002 Toyota Corolla S. Replaced battery this morning, drove car 6 miles. Engine tachometer jumped twice while driving, them engine stalled. Tried starting car, engine tries to turn over but will not....
