Type of power steering fluid for chevy venture

With engine running, steering turned hard right or left, can you see the fluid churn in the power steering reservoir? If not, maybe one of the power steering lines is blocked?

I just wanted to add, with some makes and models. With everything off, I remove the power steering belt. I take the return line loose from pump, aim into container, rotate the pulley by hand, see if any fluid comes out of return line? The return line should be low pressure, usually held to pump by hose clamp. The high pressure line has threaded fittings.

You can see the power steering pump on the front
of the motor

It along with the alternator ,crank damper & sometimes
water pump,are driven by the same belt ,been that way for
a century

Does the belt turn the power steering pulley, I guess if it didn't it would make a racket.
With engine idling, cap off power steering reservoir, wheels turned one way or the other, can you see fluid swirl? If not maybe faulty power steering fluid lines or blocked.
I can't rule out the pump at the moment or the rack.
On some makes and models, I can take the belt off the power steering, engine off, of course, take return line loose, aim into catch pan, rotate pulley with my finger and fluid will circulate. The return line is a low pressure line usually held on with hose clamp at the pump. The high pressure line is a threaded fitting.
All that talking and I didn't tell you much? lol

MORE LIKELY THE LARGE POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE LEAKING.

The cap of the power steering reservoir should list it. dont put in auto trans fluid. use Power Steering Fluid.

sounds like it is out of fluid if you fill the fluid then turn the wheel to one side and hold it you will build up pressure and see where it leaking from.
