Here is the definition for code 431.

P0431 MITSUBISHI Description The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the switching frequency ratio of heated oxygen sensors 1 (front O2 sensor) and heated oxygen sensors 2 (rear O2 sensor).

A three way catalyst converter (Manifold) with high oxygen storage capacity will indicate a low switching frequency of heated oxygen sensor 2. As oxygen storage capacity decreases, the heated oxygen sensor 2 switching frequency will increase.

When the frequency ratio of heated oxygen sensors 1 and 2 approaches a specified limit value, the three way catalyst malfunction is diagnosed. The problem could be the catalytic converter, one of the O2 sensors, or an air leak in the exhaust system.

The "Service Engine Soon" light, or "Check Engine" light is how a car alerts the driver of any problems related to its central computer. The ECM, or Electronic Control Module, controls the vehicle's engine and transmission. The service engine light warns if there is anything preventing the engine from, "running at top efficiency with the lowest possible emission," according to Samarins.com. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kia p0431, p0446, p0715

They are three separate issues.
Code 431 involves the O2 sensors and the catalytic converter, code 446 is for the evap vent control for the gas tank, and code 715 is for the input shaft speed sensor in the transaxle.
The engine temp and other factors would need to be checked for code 431, and the sensors would need to be tested for the other two codes.

Getting codes PO431, PO421, PO128

2003 saturn vue, we dont have the engine size, the codes should be and are the same, po 128 means; cooling temp is out of spec, make sure the coolant is full, then replace the coolant emp sensor and make sure the connection is good, i would also replace the thermostant, this is a common code on these and most of the time its the coolant temp sensor or thermostant, ive learned to replace then both to avoid future engine lights with code po128. next we will check the code # po421, this code is that the computer sees that the cat converters are taking to long to warm up, code po 431 is also the same as po421, this code is related to the thermostant and sensor, the sensor give the computer the wrong temp readings and then the compuetr thinks the engine is hotter than it is and thinks the converters should be also hot like the motor but the coolant temp is giving a false reading, if you replace the coolant temp sensor and the thermostant and fill coolant , then reset the light and you will solve the problem, i hope this is helpful, also the sensor is located to the right of the engine if you are standing in front of the motor, heres a picture of the sensor, remember to check connector heres a pic of the connector, good luck.johnjohn2_20.jpg

What is a P 431 and 513 Error Code on a 2005 Jeep Rubicon?

p431 = Warm up Catalyst effiiciency below threshold on Bank 2. Most likely you have an O2 sensor that has a defective heating circuit.
p513 = The engine controller has received an invalid key from the Smart Key Immobilizer Module. Unless you had or have the wrong ignition key, this one can be solved on this chat.
