My 2000 honda civic has a leak in either the tail light or trunk leaking into the passenger compartment on the drivers side

There is water in the trunk that seeps into the passenger compartment only on the drivers side but comes up all the way to the drivers seat. Water comes in when the car is parked.

I am assuming the water comes in when it rains.
Could be the trunk gasket or the tail light.
You may need a body shop to find the leak.

i would take the car to a muffler shop or somewhere they can lift the car high enough to look under it better to see what it is and where its coming from.

SOURCE: water leaking into trunk and underneath rear seats in my car!

reseal all the body seams around rear wheels housings and 1/4 panel seams, this problem is useually caused by these seams not being sealed well enough or the caulk used to seal them cracks or falls out.

SOURCE: water leaks on passenger floor in my 97 honda

I have a 1997 Toyota Camry. Water was collecting on the front PASSENGER floor after a rain. I opened my sunroof and found the front drainage holes (about 1/8" diameter) in the corners of the track sunroof track. They looked clear. I poured a bottle of water in track and watched the result. Sure enough, water started dripping from the right ride of the glove box on to the floor. I started tearing out the interior panels to trace the leak. What I found is that if I poured the bottle of water REALLY slow into the sunroof hole = no leaks. But if I pour it too fast the small 1/8" hole cannot keep up and the track overflows! THAT is where the leak comes from in my car! If water overflows the track, then it makes its way down the column trim, around the glove box and on to the floor.

So I need to help the 1/8" sunroof hole drain faster. I took some 18AWG TFFN electrical wire and jammed it into the hole to help clean it out. I then removed the black plastic mud flap behind my front tire and blew out all of the leaves and rotted debris that where behind that flap. It was packed with junk! I poured more into the 1/8" hole and it seemed to drain quicker.

I hope this information helps others.

My left turn signal for my Honda Civic 2007 doesn’t work, the fuses and rally work perfectly, what should I do?

1. Pressed the hazard switch. Right side OK, but no left turn signal or lights.

2. Checked the tail turn signal by swapping passenger and driver bulbs. (bulbs twist out). At least the rear bulbs were OK. The wiring seemed intact, with no water leaks, etc.

3. Tested the circuit by removing flasher relay. Inserted a jumper wire between the 2 and 6 locations (Thanks to the message in this thread). The front, rear and dash turn lights all checked OK.

4. Replaced the relay - Honda part 38300-SDB-A03. $23 bucks at local dealer.

5. YAHOO - it worked.

There is a leak in my 2007 Honda Accord in the trunk under where the spare tire sits, and the passenger compartment also smells as though there is a leak there

Water leaks can be very difficult to find.
You may need to take it to a body shop.
It could be the trunk lid gasket, the rear window seal, or something else.
And you may have mold growing inside.

Water leak on drivers side in my 1999 Honda Civic DX Coupe

Go to the passenger side or driver side there you need to find the A/C drain tube make sure that it is draining outside and not in the compartment area. This drain hose tends to pop out, so when you have the A.C on you notice there is water draining out but in your case its going in thhe car.

Water leaking into the back passenger floorboard of Plymouth 1998 Neon

I had the exact same problem with my 1995 neon. It was leaking around the tail light. I pulled the tail lights off and put a heavy coat of RTV silicone on the gasket, and 2 years later never happened again

Rain water is getting in, through my trunk I believe, and soaking my back seat.

its along way from the trunk to the back seat. check the back window, and the doors, get a water hose and have someone inside check it for a leak. Water in the trunk is usually caused by bad seals at the tail lights. But water in the trunk usually stays in the trunk and spare tire area. If the car has been wrecked, then who knows.

Trunk leak-cant find the rear drains from sunroof

If water is in the trunk, then it is probably getting in through the rear tail lights. Common problem with early 90's Honda cars. To check, hose down the trunk area and tail lights, then look at the gaskets from inside the trunk. You'll probably will see some water. To fix, you need to take each tail light out and place a seal of silicon caulk between the body of the car and the tail light gasket and replace the tail lights. This should solve your water in the trunk problem.

I have a 2005 neon. The problem is that, after it rains and I try to move the car, a lot of water leaks into the front passenger floor.

My 2000 neon would mysteriously get wetness in the trunk and rear passenger side sometimes into the front too. Couldn't figure it out for the longest time (all the seals by the doors looked fine, no holes in the bottom of the car etc). One day I saw on a forum that the tail light seals can cause leaks due to deterioration. I thought there was no chance but sure enough I pulled out the tail lights and the foam seal that goes around it wasn't sticking in all places and was partly falling apart in others!! Some people say to put appoxy or something around the bolts (when the tail light hole fills up thats where the water leaks out I think) but the idea of them being perminantly stuck wasn't appealing for me. So I just went to my local dealership and bought new seals for my tail lights. They were like $20(canadian) each and were so easy to instal. They are basically a sticker!!! Haven't had a problem since. The guy in the parts department said this was a common problem and they always have lots in stock and by me doing it myself I saved the $100 mechanic fee!!!
