The module is in your fuel tank hooked onto your fuel pump. Its a common GM problem.

SOURCE: gas gauge not working property

Pontiac has a problem with the sender for the fuel guage. A quart of transmission fluid in a full tank of gas usually fixes it. The "engine" light, won't be on because of that. Quite often that is the air filter or fuel cap.

I have neevr heard of that problem. Get access to the wires going to the gas tank and unplug the unit. See if the problem is still there.

Where do the fuel pump wires run on a 1995 Buick Lesabre?

Hi. In a 1995 Buick LeSabre, the wiring for the fuel pump typically runs from the fuel pump relay, which is located in the front passenger door area, to the fuel pump itself, which is located inside the gas tank. The wiring is generally routed inside the vehicle, often underneath the carpeting and interior trim. To access the wiring near the fuel pump, you will likely need to remove the rear seat. Here are the general steps to follow: 1. Remove the Rear Seat: Depending on your specific model and configuration, the rear seat may be secured with bolts or clips. Look for bolts at the bottom of the seat or clips under the front edge of the seat cushion. Remove any fasteners and lift the seat out. 2. Lift Carpeting and Trim: Once the seat is removed, carefully lift the carpeting and any surrounding trim pieces in the rear passenger area. You may need to detach plastic retainers or remove screws to do so. Take care not to damage the carpet or trim. 3. Locate the Wiring: Look for a wiring harness or conduit running along the floor or under the carpeting. This harness should lead toward the rear of the vehicle, closer to the fuel tank area. Trace the wiring until you find the connection point near the fuel pump.

4. Cut and Splice the Wiring: Once you've identified the wiring near the fuel pump, you can cut and splice the wiring as desired. Make sure to use appropriate connectors and ensure proper insulation to prevent any potential electrical issues. It's important to exercise caution when working with electrical wiring. If you're not comfortable with this process, it's recommended to consult a professional mechanic or electrician who can assist you with the wiring replacement. Additionally, please note that modifying the wiring of the fuel pump may have implications for your vehicle's warranty and safety. It's advisable to consult with an automotive expert or refer to your vehicle's documentation before proceeding with any modifications.

Next to your driver seat there's a little handle to open the fuel door.

Fuel pump driver module

Look into the rear of the trunk behind the driver-side rear-passenger seat and pull back the carpeting. Locate a black, rectangular box that has a wiring harness plugged into the bottom of it. This is the fuel pump driver module.

  • Unbolt the module by loosening the two bolts holding it in place with a socket wrench. Disconnect the wires at the bottom of the module by simply squeezing the locking tabs on the wires and disengaging them from the module.

Fuel pump runs constantly with key on engine off. pulled fuel pump relay and fp fuse on firewall and pump still runs and engine will run. pulled guage fuse in dash and pump quits. reconnect fuel pump fuse...

Gauge fuse runs a fuel module that is installed to correct vapor lock. This module is what is running the pump. This module, called the hot fuel module is mounted on the passenger side behind the dash above the blower motor.

2003 Montana-fuel guage always reads full. Unable to refill tank when low on fuel.

This is caused by a bad sending unit in the fuel tank, I have seen this many times and a new fuel sender fixes these every time.

This is very common in montanas... a
lso for the fuel gauge (I believe its applicable for a 2000 and later), it may be an issue with the C-305 connector.

Its a pass-thru connection for wiring (from inside cabin to outside/underneath). It connects various wires for things in rear of vehicle(including connection to fuel pump/sensor). While its weatherproof on bottom (underneath) it is not inside cabin, spills/ various leaks inside can cause water intrusion and subsequent corrosion of wires.

The connector should be under carpet to the rear of drivers seat (you may be able to see exactly where by looking under vehicle for a bundle of wires that come out from cabin)
    .

    Hope helps.

2001 Buick lesabre gas guage not working, heated seats not workin

I have a 2001 and just replaced the fuel pump assembly in the tank because the fuel gauge didn't work or worked irratic. After talking to the partsman it sounded like this was common. The contact for the sensor wears away and looses contact. You will see that the new fuel pump module has different type of metal wiper contact. As for the heated seats, I have an issue with driver side also and haven't had a chance to look into it yet.
