1992 Honda Civic Radio has only static

I brought my 1992 Honda Civic to the dealership to have a new heating cable installed and now my radio plays only static. I brought it back thinking that they didn't re hook the antenna cable correctly. They said that they had and that the radio must have just stopped working. The Tape player works but I have only static on the radio.

How do I remove the radio so I can check for myself if the radio has been properly hooked up?

If the tape player works fine and no static u most likely have a problem with your ground, check to see if your radio is getting good ground and also check the antenna unscrew the two bolts on top of the car and carefully pull the antenna upwards and check the wire connected to a piece of metal where the screw goes (if good) add another ground to your radio.

Honda radio stopped working but still has power

Check the antenna cable where it connects to the antenna. If that is good, it may be time for a new unit.

No dash lights or tail lights on my 1994 honda accord ex

I have right now the same problem. I just pulled the fancy/shmancy radio head out of my (Honda) 1992 Acura Integra and the whole dash is now a mess. It had been professionally installed. The dome light now doesn't work, the "door open" warning lights stay on, the clock is messed up, etc.
I installed the fancy head in another car, in a 1992 Honda Civic. That works perfectly. Sounds like you need to find a professional installer to re-do your new head.
I think the dash lights and the taillights are on the same circuit/fuse.

every honda i've seen with my own eyes, the radio code is under the fuse box lid. It's the fuse box under the hood on the left side of the engine compartment. If it isn't there then you probably will need to go to the dealership Good luck ...................

What is the dealership code for 1999 Honda Civic?

Each code is specific to the radio, you have to disable the anti-theft feature before removing the battery. The code may be listed in your owner's manual, if not, call dealer for more info

I need radio wiring diagram for 2004 honda civic sedan and instructions on how to remove the radio

I just installed a radio and speakers in my 1992 Civic LX (132323 miles). Most radios are removed by disassembling some of the dashboard components. On mine I had to remove the lower center console (where the ashtray/lighter is located) to access the rear of my old radio. There is a metal support strap back there which stabilizes the radio and provides equipment grounding. This has to be removed from the radio before you can un-install the radio. Also there may be a metal mounting sleeve around the radio, if so you must use (2) thin metal strips (or thin screwdrivers)to disengage the (2) side clips from the sleeve. You should then be able to remove your old radio.
As for wiring , I had to discard the wire harness the came from the old stereo and hard wire the new unit. I used a 12v circuit tester to find my (+) positive (typically red) and (-) negative (typically black) leads. Speaker wires are in pairs. (example: blue/white white/blue or white/white-black)

Radio

If the radio is aftermarket, they cross the circuitry of the antenna near the defroster, causing static in the antenna everytime you turn it on. Disassemble the radio and check for the wiring. Worst case scenario: they used the Positive wiring for the defogger switch and connected a wire to the radio's ACC cable.
