It's not hard to change, kinda like a sparkplug with a wire permenantly attached, if you go to O'reilly's or Autozone they will loan you a special socket to take it off and install the new one, Generally most cars have two one before and one after the catylitic converter, make sure which one the code is telling you is bad. Also a cheap fix, many wrecking yards don't charge but 5 to ten bucks for a used one as opposed to a new one for 60.00 to 100.00, If you don't mind going out and removing it, You take a chance one getting a bad one but, you can always take it back and get another one

Have a 2009 silverado codes p0053,p0059 show chaned sinsors light still comes on

This is a heated oxygen sensor and the computer is detecting that there is a problem with the heater portion not working. And the other code is caused because the heater is not working.

This could be a fuse, wiring, a connector with a poor connection, or the heater in the oxygen sensor (replace oxygen sensor in that case).

Generally oxygen sensors should be changed every 60,000 miles as a regular maintenance item. And when I replace mine, I get better gas mileage (also my engine is more lively). So I see this as a money saving thing myself.

But just about everyone I know will REFUSE to replace their oxygen sensors for some reason???

Anyway information for troubleshooting and/or replacing this would probably be in an aftermarket repair manual for your vehicle (auto parts store). But this information would for sure be in a Factory Service Manual set for your vehicle which you can order from your dealer.

What does the oxygen sensors look like in a 2003 Chevy Venture (warner Brothers Edition) ? How many are there? Where are they located? Can you show a picture of them in place? How do i replace them? Chevy...

There should be an O2 sensor before and after the catalytic converter on your vehicle, so it will have 2 sensors. You'll need a 7/8" open end wrench or an O2 sensor socket to replace them.

It'll look something like this: http://www.carsteering.com/data/all_images/48-01718.jpg

What is the code b0135 in the chevy tahoe.

Harness or connectors (The sensor circuit is open or shorted)
- Front Heated oxygen sensor (Bank 1) may be faulty Possible Solution Replacing the O2 Sensor 1 usually takes care of the problem P0135 Description The front heated oxygen sensor (or sensor 1) is placed into the exhaust manifold. It detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas compared to the outside air. The heated oxygen sensor 1 has a closed-end tube made of ceramic zirconia. The zirconia generates voltage from approximately 1V in richer conditions to 0V in leaner conditions. The heated oxygen sensor 1 signal is sent to the ECM. The ECM adjusts the injection pulse duration to achieve the ideal air-fuel ratio. The ideal air-fuel ratio occurs near the radical change from 1V to 0V. When is the code detected? - Current amperage in the front heated oxygen sensor heater circuit is out of the normal range. (An improper voltage drop signal is sent to ECM through the front heated oxygen sensor heat a four thumbs up would be helpful if this fixed your problem thanks have a nice day

My 2003 1500hd Silverado 6.0L has the error code of P0420. Can you help?

P0420 is a catalytic convertor efficiency below threshold, basically the convertor is not working to specs. As long as you are under 80,000 miles the convertor is covered under federal warranty for 8years/80K miles at the dealer. If its not covered, you need Bank 1 Catalytic convertor replaced possibly with Oxygen sensors.

The most likely solution is to preform a crank relearn this must be done with a good scan tool such as snap on modis/solus OTC genisis or GM tech 2 a cheap scan tool CAN NOT preform this function. A crank relearn will renew the relationship with the computer and crank position sensor

I have an 99 Chevy Silverado Truck 5.3 liter engine, and the ODB code is PO420 can you help me pinpoint the reasons?

the code you show is for the oxygen sensors post convertor. replace both the o2 sensors after the convertor and the code will go away on its own after a couple normal condition drive cycles

My 1991 chevy k1500 runs fine when cold but when it warms up it cuts out when you gas it.

hi, the problem you are having sounds to me like the oxygen sensor " or lambda sensor for its real name" has failed and needs replacing the reason it points towards this being the fault is that the oxygen sensor only starts working once the engine reaches a certain temp so if your car runs perfect from cold but plays up when warm then this is a good indication that the oxygen sensor needs replacing.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
