You can try removing the battery negative cable for a few minutes which may reset the computer. If it doesnt, you will need a scan tool to plug into the data caonnector to clear the codes. It is possible that there were more than one code so even if u think u fixed everything, check the codes that are stored. If the light goes off when you reconnect the battery terminal, and comes back on again when u drive it, u have ither issues you need to address. A scan tool (trip to the dealer/garage/autozone) would be my preferred method to resolve it properly.

MY INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT STAYS ON.THERE IS NO ENGINE FAULT.ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT. JAGUAR X TYPE 3.00 HOW CAN I TURN THIS OF. OR RESET IT OR REMOVE A FUSE

I assume that you have the equipment to read the OBD codes, as you say there is no fault, this being the case you should be able to reset the fault indicator with this equipment. Otherwise you will need to perform drive cycles to clear it (you will find these at http://www.bluejag.co.uk ) or just sit back and relax it will turn itself off in time.

2003 S-Type Jaguar

First step is to drive to AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts carefully, without heavy acceleration. Tell them you have a check engine light and you need the computer scanned. They'll do it free (a dealer will charge an hour's labor even though it only takes a few minutes). Ask them to give you a printout of the codes, and post them here. Do that as a reply to my post and I can help you decipher the codes as to what they mean and what needs to be done. Was the car sitting in water deep enough to touch the bodywork, or were just the tires touching water?

Reset warning engine light

you can reset the engine warning light by taking the earth lead off the battery and connecting it to the positive lead, then switch on the ignition,. Reconnect the earth lead to the battery and the light will have been reset. What you are doing is discharging the diagnostic chip to earth, which is exactly what the jaguar main dealer equipment does. This works on all cars.
PLEASE NOTE, make sure you disconnect the earth lead from the battery .
