You need to remove the wiper arms first. thay must be in the highest position for removal. take your hand and move them to that point then remove the nut cover at the base of the arm and remove the nut, a wiper arm remover tool may be required if thay dont come off easy, this tool is available at your local auto parts store.then remove the panels that sorround the wiper arm studs from which you took the wiper arms from, these panels may have little plastic screw covers on them that need to be removed to reveal the screws that hold the panels down

First check out the fuse box under the dash board and find the fuses and relays indicated. Swap out the relays to test the (possible) bad one AFTER you check out the fuses!

Problem with rear window wiper. Does not start without a manual lift to start

Sounds like the wiper motor is on it's last leg(s) -- needs help starting -- not enough torque supplied by the motor to move from dead stop. Will probably need replacing.

2005 ford expedition rear wiper

Sounds like a problem within the wiper motor not turning off at rest or not reaching it's rest point to be able to turn itself off, probably needs a new motor. Disconnecting it should have no relation to the front washer operation, you can confirm this by reconnecting the wiper motor to try.

Rear wiper does not work at all. front wipers work fine. rear washer works

1. check the fuse to the rear wiper motor
2. check for power to rear wiper motor at the motor (power wire going in to the wiper motor with rear wiper switch on)
If you have good fuses & have power going in to the rear wiper motor...
3. Pull old rear wiper motor and install a new rear wiper motor.
Thank you please drive thru......

Windshield wipers

don't have to remove the dash- remove the plastic black cowl just under the wipers. The "pop" you heard is probably the clasp coming off the ball nut connected to the wiper motor. check the mounting plate for damage (usually they're good or need a little bending-needle nose pliers work best). Screw the two nuts back down after you reposition the unit. Turn on wipers to test connection, but make sure wipers are clear before testing. Replace cowl and you're back in business.
