I used my jag to jump start my wifes car, then parked up until the next day, now the engine just spins over, no compression, and refuses to start. is this a short start problem and how do i get around it.
Check all your fuses first as it sounds like you shorted something out, did you turn the jag off before connecting the jump leads, if you did you will be ok but if you did not it is more than likely a fuse.
hope thishelps

Hi simfea
Thanks for the input. but i have solved this.
It was no compression due to the bores being washed out with petrol from the short start problem that v8 suffer from.
i took the plugs out ,well six of them as the other two were difficult to reach, poured two capfuls of oil down each plughole, replaced plugs, removed the fuse for the fuel pump, turned engine over to lubricate the bores a couple of times, put fuse for fuel pump back in, turn engine over again without touching pedals and she fired right up, albeit creating enough smoke to get every neighbour out in the street wondering where the sun had disapeared to.
She runs like a dream now, but i will treat her to an oil change to make sure this doesnt happen again.
