Given the age and possible mileage on the unit, you will be money ahead if you order a rebuilt one that has a warranty. There are too many items that need to be inspected and replaced if worn on that transmission. There are seals, bushings, clutches, orings, etc.

SOURCE: 2001 isuzu rodeo transmission leaking

That is a common problem on this transmission. You can get one from a transmission parts supply company. It is held in with a snap-ring and it has a big spring pushing it out towards the snap-ring. It must be pressed in while the snap-ring is removed. Its best you get someone that has done this before. It is a servo cover, looks like a small hockey puck. Replace and fill fluid and drive on.

SOURCE: my 2002 isuzu rodeo transmission is slipping

We had the same problem with a 2002 Rodeo. The transmission must be replaced. But keep in mind the Powertrain Warranty (yes this does cover the transmission) on 2000-2003 Rodeo's is 10yr/120,000 miles. Call 800-255-6727 with your vin# and they will verify. Good luck!

Change your gearbox oil, and clean out the oil strainer.
Should help.

( On some models, you have to remove the gearbox oil pan to clean the strainer )

Whats the Selco on Isuzu Rodeo 2001,transmission fluid leaks only when driving and I read to check Selco. It is often the problem. Where is it?

same as muffler bearings...
why not find where it leaks first.
i guess its and automatic, transmission?
and has 4wd and with a transfer case (it too can leak)
imagine its box. a box has 6 sides.
one cleans it and then drives, and find which side leaks.
only evidence works here, clean, drive , find. location.
the other way, is to use the dye, kit and light.
add dye to oil/lube, then drive, then come home
and use the light (comes with the kit) and find it.
or get the car fixed, this is what they will do..... pay them.

leaks have many causes.
1: bad gaskets. or vents blocked,
2: loose parts.
3: bad o-rings, seals.
4: bad castings, called porosity failures.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casting_defect
5: and more, cracks.? warpage,,,, ext, dampage
even road collision damage . or things you hit in the road.
we can't just guess , any of this, only tell you , the car needs service. and why ask the blind?

I find all my leaks, by , clean, drive ,look repeat.
works every time, but takes hard work.

SELCO.
my wild guess, that is someone told you
in a wild and useless guess, not inspected.
the shift selection shaft seals leaks.

good luck and remember you never told us what drive line is in your car. not one word, all we know is the body shell name. (mostly useless)
nor if in usa, they have rodeo's in Australia too.
some there chock full of HOLDEN parts.

ALL car work, diagnosis , is a hand on deal.
using real mechanics and all that.
Many cars leak oil, and is ignored.
Some are very hard to find,.
may are cause by lack of service.
when you service a car the mechanic's looks over
the whole car (you didn't) and he sees, omg, the trans tail shaft leaks oil. (only it is wet)
so tells you, that it leaks, ATF fluid. (pink ,/red)
and needs a new seal,
see?
then you ask how much is that?,
then he or she says.
if just seal, it's $15+ 1hr labor
if the yoke is damaged, and 1hr, and $100
if the last joker damaged the tail other housing at the seal, the cost is a new housing.
that joker never heard of proper seal puller.

not any of which can be guessed at. ever.
one must take it apart and see what is up.

that is what the mechanical world is like.
unless a new $3000 tranny is in the cards, just for one leak.

the common leaks (means nothing really)
are:
tail shaft seal.
front seal.
pan gasket leaks due to last service, done wrong.
pan drain, if it has one, the seal ring bad. o
(front ,rear, bottom are the common sides.)
and the shift manual selector shaft seal bad.

I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4 with 3.2 dohc. Transmission is leaking, I brought a oem gasket for the front and back replace the filter. The front pan is still leaking. Try different silicone base gasket...

Yours is leaking from the round side servo cover. A quick fix for someone that knows the correct way to put them in. It is held in by a snap ring and a big spring is underneath it pushing it out. So it must be pressed down to remove and replace the snap ring. A common problem for these vehicles. They will drip on the edge of the pan and make it look like it is leaking.

Automatic transmission leaks on my 2000 Rodeo 4wheel drive Any help? Please

If you have never serviced the transmission, it just may be time to have the transmission fluid and filter to be replaced if the transmission fluid is leaking from the transmission pan. If it's leaking from the rear of the transmission where the drive shaft goes in to, then it's the rear seal from the transfer case and the seal needs to be replaced and the transfer case topped off with fluid. If the fluid is leaking from the front of the transmission where the engine connects to the transmission than it's a good chance that it's the torque converter or front pump main seal. The other place that it could be leaking from is the transmission oil lines from the transmission to the cool at the radiator. Please let me know if it's leaks worst when the engine is running or only when your parked for a few hours. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

Eratic transmission shifting vibrates and slips when turning

It's low on transmission fluid! It has to be checked and pumped in from the bottom of pan. Check for leaks too.
