2000 Hyundai Elantra Transmission problem

My 2000 Hyundai Elantra's transmission started slipping at around 20-30 mph if i accelerate very slowly it will change gears normally if not it will rev and when it finally catches it hits pretty hard when slowing down at around 5 mph it will sometimes hit hard again most recently i was parked and went to back out and the reverse would not work it just revs i had to push it out of the parking space i wasin 3 other parking lots that mourning and it worked fine if i need a new transmission which i figure i will i could use an estimate on about how much it will cost to fix it.

I don't know if I can help but as an owner of a Hyundai Elantra 2000 GLS with 205,000 miles and the original clutch and transmission I'll try and help!

I always start with the lowest cost solution first and avoid mechanics as much as possible!

Have you checked the trans fluid?
It should be changed every 30,000 miles!
Sometimes a Lucas Trans Fluid will cure - fix slippage!

Have you checked for a clutch adjustmet!
An adjustment can cure - fix slippage!

Are you a clutch rider with your foot always on the clutch?
If so you may have worn out the clutch!

I have a 2000 elantra it starts but when you press on th accelerator it boggsdown only goes about 10mph

First of all, are you able to rev up the motor soon after starting to let's say 3000 rpm's? And I mean easily! If not, then it's not in your drivetrain (engine/transmission), but more likely perhaps stuck brakes or slipping

My 2004 Hyundai Elantra will go into forward or reverse when just started, but after warming up or driving a few blocks the transmission slips or whatever and the car won't move. Car has100,000 miles and...

make sure that you have the proper amount of transmission fluid. If the tran still has issues then it could just be that the gears on the inside of the transmission need to be rebuilt or replaced.

I have a 2000 hyundai elantra and the po734 cade is on and i do not know what i should do do you have any answers and also i am getting horible gas mileage

P0734 means that your transmission is slipping. This being the case, it is not surprising that the gas mileage is poor. You will need to have your transmission checked out professionally. Take it to a trustworthy transmission mechanic or to a dealer. Get a second opinion before you have any work done.

2000 Hyundai elantra transmission delay, reverse going

Did you check the transmission fluid level? If necessary, add fluid. However you probably have a more serious problem. Take the car to a qualified transmission mechanic.

NO POWER WHEN PRESSING THE GAS DOES NOT ACCELERATE ENGINE REVS HIGH

If manual transmission, the clutch is slipping. Check for pedal free play (about 1 inch or so). If automatic transmission, the fluid level may be low, or the transmission needs service.

Speedometer Gauge Slipping - Inaccurate Reading

I had a car that did this to me. It started happening last year so I took it in and they were baffled. Lesson learned never take a car to a big chain store for a difficult diagnosis. They just told me to let my car warm up for 5 minutes and it would be fine. If I let it warm up it was good. This winter it started doing it again but it would do it all the time even after I let it warm up. I never bothered bringing it in again because it was dieing. If you are truly concerned take it into a mechanic ( a good one) and have them diagnose it. Your spedometer cable could just be wearing out.
