If you are sure it's the water pump, then the bearing is wearing out. It will soon seize or begin leaking. It will need to be replaced.
Google search Replace waterpump then your vehicle model. You should be able to easyily find basic instructions to do the job.

How to fix a noisy water pump on a grand jeep Cherokee 2007 3.00 deseil

a noisy water pump ( low growl or rumble noise) is a problem bearing and the cheapest fix is a new water pump
squeaks or other high pitched noises can be tested with soapy water on the belt--noise will stop for a short period of time
If the water pump housing is cast iron, you may be able to get a repair kit for the pump but the cost of the kit and the labor to do the job is generally around the price of a new pump

There's a sound like a bad bearing coming from the water pump but no water coming out of the weep hole. i'm guessing the pump is bad. is this common for this car?

Bearings on a water pump failing on any car is a common problem! The water leaking from around the water pump area is the tell tale sign.........get it checked out and replaced as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the engine.

1994 bonneville 3800 engine. I had work done, replaced water pump, and now I have a noise that sounds like a screw or a stone bang around on metal. I took off the serpentine belt and ran the engine for a...

If you had no noise prior to replacing the water pump then the noise will be at the water pump. Remove the belt and turn the water pump by hand and you should feel the noise. I suspect fan bolts too long or water pump bolts not fitted in the proper holes and hitting on the pulley. If the problem can be felt in the shaft of the water pump I would take it back to whoever fitted it and have them re do the job as it may be that the impellor is hitting on the inside of the engine housing water jacket.

Water pump c220 seris

A water pump is a device used to move liquids. A pump displaces a volume by physical or mechanical action. Water Pumps displace fluid, causing a flow. Adding resistance to flow causes pressure. A sump pump is a water pump example. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I took my 2005 Chev. Malibu in for an oil change and now it is making a loud noise from the engine. they say its the water pump? is that possible?

  • Hi, I can help.
  • When your water pump goes bad it will begin to grind. I had one I let got far to long and it sounded deafening when I opened the hood. You can open your hood and listen and see for yourself. The water pump is on the belt line, left side under the hood, last pulley toward the rear.
  • Now if your asking can an oil change effect the water pump? No, not at all. Water pumps go sporadically.
  • It would be odd that you heard no noises before the oil change and now the water pump is loud enough to take notice after the oil change. The bearings usually go a little slower than that.

  • I would be interested in some more of the details to this. And what your overall concerns are. I'd be happy to further. help. Otherwise get a second opinion on your cars condition.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

This water pump is making funny noise how can i solve this

A water pump on any auto making noise is a sign of bearing failure on the water pump drive stem. The only remedy is to have the water pump replaced or replace it yourself. The bearing gets water intrusion or dries out and the bearing fails. The water pump is not expensive but labor costs can be substantial depending upon the location of the water pump. Many water pumps are driven by the timing belt on smaller cars. Gaining access to the water pump often involves removing the timing belt cover and the timing belt. Failure to reinstall the timing belt in the exact same position as it was removed can cause catastrophic engine failure. Without your vehicle make and model this response is generic most vehicles.

My 2002 s6o has a has a noise coming from when the compressor is engaged . the car has 123k miles on it and i replaced the belt tensioner a couple months ago when that was making noise. I bought the car...

if the noise is only with the compressor on it may need a new compressor. as for the water pump that should be changed when you replace the timing belt. that is usually done every 105k or 10 years. i would definitely check to see if that has been replaced because if it breaks you will have to replace the cylinder head

Why do i still hear a knocking noise in the water pump, when i just changed it. also my coolant pressure cap hoes that connects to the radiator blew off while i was driving, why would that happen after i...

Maybe it's not the water pump that is making the knocking noise.

Water pumps generally don't make knocking noises.

It could have a spun camshaft or main bearing if you hear a loud metal to metal knocking noise.

The coolant pressure cap hose that connnects to the radiator:
Is this an overflow hose that leads to an overflow tank? If so, the hose may have a restriction in it.
