Hi, Recently the stereo in my Volvo stopped working. I cannot select stations by pressing numbers on the dash nor can I switch from AM to FM. The stations will start to cycle for no reason—even when I’m not touching the steering wheel. What should I do? Have you heard of this problem before? The car has about 47,000 miles on it. We’ve already had the transmission replaced! I’m just wondering—what’s next??? Thank you, Katie Highlands Ranch, CO

Clear your engine and transmission codes, its a small box in the pass side engine compartment right behind the headlight. Search "Bay 13 Volvo" and that has all the information to check and clear the codes. It also has a list of what the codes mean to help you.

Each radio has a different code. You need to call a Volvo dealership and read them the vin number and they can pull the code up for you

Your immobilizer is enabled. Try locking/unlocking the doors with the remote five (5) times, this should remedy.

Had a similar problem recently where I would press the accelerator almost to the floor before I got a response and when I ran the A/C it was worse. Also my car kept stalling out when at idle. Volvo dealerships are extremely expensive. I took mine to a Bosch service center (more of a mom & pop shop) and the price was more reasonable. The drivability (sp?) problem was the rear oxygen sensor for me. I also had a fuel pressure sensor and MAP (labeled as pressure sensor from Volvo) sensor replaced. The parts are expensive, but it fixed my issue. There is a front and rear oxygen sensor so it could be either. The parts are $219 each. The fuel pressure and MAP sensor are cheaper, but only by about $40. They are not hard to replace though. Once I had the rear oxygen sensor replaced the car was back to normal. I have a 2003 S60 with 97K miles.

that sounds like you are low on power steering fluid ... when the level gets low then the pump starts to ingest air and that produces a buzzing sound when you turn the wheel .....i would add or change the fluid and check for leaks and mechanical loosness in the under car linkages ...you can have that checked at your next oil change .
