My 2004 ford explorer v6 will stall when starting unless i tap the gas petal slightly after the key is turned. After that its fine no issues....my check engine light is on and auto zone checked the codes....i have an iac error and an engine misfire, i have replaced plugs and wires already and tried cleaning the MAF
The iac code has nothing to do with the maf . the maf is your mass air flow sensor and it is in the air tube going to the throttle body. the iac is your idle air control valve that is in the throttle body next to the throttle position sensor
I was looking for the iac valve and have done some online research and i dont think my car has 1
all cars have them I have been repairing cars for 25 years.

check for spark/fuel /vacuum -air leaks.....test plugs..then wires .and egr valve and snorkle and intake areas for air being introduced near each cylinder with carb cleaner wafted near then while idling

sounds like EGR valve and sensor this controls idle speed when at a stop. the po171 is a burn lean or rich code need to know what bank 1 or 2. also check for a vacuum leak from one of the hoses.
