SOURCE: Adjustment of headlights...how to

There is an adjustment screw for the headlight located on the headlight housing. You should just have to turn it clockwise (I believe it requires an allen wrench) and that will raise the light beam higher. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thanks and enjoy,
Lee

The usual reason it would seem the length of use would be shortened is that most Subaru owners leave there lights on every where they go day and night. Really does shorten the time in days but not really the time of being on. Just a thought. Happy trails.

DO NOT buy bulbs anywhere other than SUBARU as replacement. They are specifically long life bulbs. Yes, availlable in other brands in other stores and more cost efficient but not in the long run..

The driver side headlight is dim. This is caused by loose
ground contact of the headlight ground terminal. Have
a check on this by tightening it up or reconnecting to
good ground (chassis).

Fisher minute mount to 2001 chevy 1500

This sounds like there may be a short on the passenger side causing the circuit to draw more amperage than it should, thus dimming the headlights. try using an amp clamp on the blinker wire at different spots to see if the amperage jumps up.

How to Adjust a Mercedes' Headlights

In the U.S. the type, adjustments, and illumination factors of all automobile lighting devices are regulated by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108. The headlights must function and be adjusted correctly. Your high beams must disperse their beams straight forward and low beams down and to the right while safely providing illumination without too much or too little glare. It is wise to check the headlight adjustment on your Mercedes at least every year. Doing it yourself will save you time and money. It will also make driving safer for you and others you may meet on the road at night. All it takes is time, some basic tools and a little patience.

Things You'll Need
  • ratchet set
  • 1/4-inch screwdriver, at least 8 inches long
  • flashlight (if needed)
Show More Instructions
    • 1 Open the hood and prop it up.
    • 2 Remove components if necessary to allow access to the left/right and up/down adjustment knobs. They are on top of the rear side of the headlight. The upper knob adjusts the beam to the left and right. The lower knob controls up/down adjustments.
    • 3 Park with the passenger side of the car parallel to a solid fence or wall and about four feet from it. When there is dim light or darkness, turn on the lights and use your screwdriver to adjust the up/down knob on the passenger-side headlight until the light beam is parallel to the ground (you can see the beam of light against the surface of the wall).
    • 4 Turn the car so that it faces the wall approximately one car length away. Adjust the up/down knob on the driver-side headlight until it is at the same level as the passenger side headlight. Then adjust both sides until the small groove on top of the beam cutoff is directly in front of the light.
    • 5 Reinstall any components that you removed. Close the hood.
Tips & Warnings
  • This is method is generic for Mercedes models. Some may differ, as there are many models out there.

Sounds like your ground wire is broken (which could be broken, overheated, loose or corroded) If the color of the copper has changed(looks gray) or is corroded then you must replace the plug.

first i would want to know that all the headlamps are in good working order. it kind of sounds like these are also bad bulbs. you will also need to look for good ground wires just behind the headlamp assemblies. to answere your question, YES. if things were not repaired properly and without attention to detail then you could have wiring issues. on the plus side it doesnt sound too difficult. try these items first.

Adjusting headlights on 2003 honda accord

Further to Emmisionwiz's answer that worked for me - the holes are in the black plastic covering the radiator support, to each side more or less in line with the headlights. They are marked with an "A" and rotation directions for UP and DOWN. The Phillips screwdriver goes into the hole about 45 degrees from vertical and engages the adjusting rack, where the teeth of the Phillips screwdriver are the pinion. If you shine a flashlight down the hole you can see the rack teeth and all becomes clear. But you will need a long Phillips screwdriver and a little bit of luck.

In the owner's manual it says the lights are adjusted correctly at the dealership and if they need adjustment because of a trailer then take the car to a Honda certified mechanic.

I have a 2004 Accord also and the method is the same for that one too.
