I'm trying to remove my fuel filer and have the tool and can't seem to figure out how it opperates

Yes that is correct. The only filter is inside the fuel tank, and as I recall its a non exchangeable filter. It just gets replaced with the fuel pump when it goes bad

Yes you do need a special tool, Laser tools supply one you will need a 16 flute one. costs about £5.
