SOURCE: I have a 2000 buick lasabre that has been running

plugs and or wires.
for some reason the spark is jumping out of the wire or plug.
the plug insulater may have a crack in it.
also use a carb spray to clean out the throttle body at the throttle plate.
all the black carbon will build up around the throttle plate and restrick airflow at an idle position.

hope this helps
thank you
jm

SOURCE: car idles rough in park also runs rough in overdrive

Sometimes a rough idle like that is a fuel filter. As you've already done the plugs and wires the fuel filter would be my next bet.

If there is a carbon track on the metal plate of the Coil Module on my 1994 Firebird 3.4, that I can't just completely scrub off, should I just replace the module?

you should be fine the streak was caused from voltage leaking from a coil pack and you replaced it and cleaned the plate it was the coil at fault not the module or the plate

Hard starting, rough idle when cold, then smooth running when warm

Need year/make/model/mileage of vehicle to provide a more specific set of troubleshooting steps.

When was the last tune up? Hard starts when cold are usually caused by fouled spark plugs, worn plug wires, or weak ignition coils. Fuel systems are not as effected by temperature changes as the ignition components.

Your cat should last quite a while now it is replaced. I recommend testing coil packs and module. Change plugs and wires and double check your vacuum hoses.

97 z-24 rough idol when cold/runs better when warm

The most common problem is a partially clogged injector. They should be cleaned about once a year. Also the coil housing is known for shorting out between cylinders on your engine. The reason that its worse with the AC on is because the AC compressor is adding a load to the engine. You should probably take it to the shop and have it diagnosed soon before the misfire damages the catalytic converter.
