2002 jag x-type- car wants to cut off when stopped

I have 02 3.0 x-type and a warning sign comes on that says cruise control not available and I can smell the exhaust, does this have anything to do with the mass intake sensor?

Probably an intake problem easy.... air filter? harder leak in intake somewhere try the carb and choke cleaner start car and spray around intake components. i don't know about the sensor itself. cruise not available will come on when car is in limp home mode and the shaking will occur like in your last post at high rpms. i'm not a mechanic but have recently had similar problems.

Cruise not available fault light on 2004 jaguar s type 3.0 v 6

What is the fault code? If you don't know you need to have it tested with a scanner that reads all JAG codes, that means the dealer.

Hello. Jag x-type 2002, 2.5 l. Problem: engine doesn't exceed 3000 rpm. It looks like computer blocks the engine. any ideas?

My car has a similar problem,i read the manual and the car goes to a limp home mode if the computer feels there is something wrong with the car,it happens to mine when the cruise control not available light comes on-it will also not exceed above 70mph when that particular light comes on.I was told my cruise control computer needs changing

Yellow warning light suddenly came on message shown 'cruise not available' any ideas?

It sounds as if the fuse which controls cruise control has burned out. Either open the fuse box, or take it to a dealership to get it fixed. I'd go to the dealer, since a Jag is an expensive piece of machinery and they probably cover it for free.

Good luck,

I am having a problem with my 02 Jag X type - the car wants to stall when it is first started and not warmed up yet. The computer says "cruise control not available" and the check engine light is...

Had same problem with mine, the reason is too much cold air entering the engine. Replaced intake gaskets upper and lower problem went away and car drives like a charm

No cruise control available light comes on, and when this sign appears cant rev the car over 3K rpms driving on highway, going down hill and foot of the pedal light will come off

never heard of this before ,so obviously the cruise control is allowing the throttle to work then when it has a cough it puts engine on limp or slow speed .this vehicle is fly by wire so try changing the sensors on the pedals .Or just put it into dealers because if the correct part isnt known then changing parts willy nilly could cost more than a dealer repair

Cruise control unavailable--x type Jaguar

I had the same problem and found that the PCV breather hose was leaking, creating the vacuum leak. The codes for the error have translated to "bank 1 too lean, and bank 2 too lean." Start with the PCV breather hose and see if that doesn't fix it. You will also have to reset the computer afterwards to get rid of the error.

02 JAGUAR X TYPE 3.0 CHK ENG LGHT ON CAR SHAKES AS THOUGH ABT TO

go to checker and have them run the code for check engine light. it will probably come up as a lean code bank 1 or/and bank 2. on my x-type it was an o-ring in the intake that was cracked mechanic found it with by spraying carb and choke cleaner around the intake components.the shaking.... if it occurs at higher rpms is your car being in limp home mode i think about 3000 rpms will go away when intake problems are solved. car cutting off ? take it jag maybe a weak fuel pump, clogged jet pump or clogged fuel filter just did all of the above to my 02 x-type 3.0 sport w/ 75,000 miles.
