I took my car to jaguar dealer (Jaguar 1995 XJ6), My problem was that the car stalled in idle. The changed the oxygen valve sensor for large fee and I still have the same problem. The car runs great, but I am driving with one leg on the gas pedal to hold the RPM from falling below 650 RPM to prevent the engine from stalling.
Any idea what to do next?

Mike, There is a sensor unit on the air filter coming into the car. Just buy one from a junk yard for about 20 dollars. You can change it yourself. with a screwdriver and it has a plug in on it.That sounds like the problem and the dealer never sees it either. Byron Kittrell
I had this problem with my wifes car. I went through the car top to toe and found more than one problem causing this intermittant issue.
I found a weak crank sensor, when warm it was intermittantly losing a signal, replaced it and the problem was a little better, I then found that the throttle position sensor was also intermittantly not within the range it should be, replaced it and it helped, I then was getting the oxygen sensor code and that was only due to the car stalling, nothing to do with the o2's, I finally traced the final issue to the integral harness on the valve body inside the transmission, I replaced that harness and fitted a new transmission speed sensor and the car has been perfect.
I know you have several issues here that could be your problem but you now have a base to start from.
Last thing is the car may just need an engine set-up if you are no longer having any codes. This is only done by the dealer using there WDS computer system. The perform a oxygen sensor orientation test, they set-up the kick down and also set-up the Throttle positon sensor (TPS).

The engine doesn't hold in idle almost all the time now, the RPM drop slowly then the engine stall. It will start again with no problem. I took the car to the dealer because after it hapened the chek engine light was on. They checked with their computer. then they replaced the o2 valve and engine valve cover gusket.
I have the report from the dealer:
"107393 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON FOR FAULT CODES FOR O2 SENSORS RUINED BY ENGINE OIL LEAK AND LEK IN CAT CONVERTER SEAL---DID NOT VERIFY IDLE OR STALLING PROBLEM AT THIS TIME BUT THESE THING COULD CONTRIBUTE"

I drove the car twice since the repair. The car stalled 3 times but check engine light did not come on. It is sowing today and I cannot go for a ride right now, but it look like its the same problem. I cannot tell for sure if the engine light will come back on, but if it will, I will take it to auto zone to see if the can check the code for me.

The car runs very good you will never know something wrong with the car, just when i am relaxing my leg from the gas pedal the RPM goes down to 650 RPM and many times from that point goes all the way down and the engin stall.

It sound very good, I am on my way to try this. it is a good lead, since I was just about to replace the Throttle Position Sensor.

I replaced the whole throttle assbl. unit with the sensors on it with used one and everything is working great now.
I realize a jag isn't a ford windstar... but i had a similar problem... check the venting for the air intake and make sure it is all hook up properly and nothing has come off.... also when you start the motor listen for a vacuum leak... the reason for the venting being intact is that air must pass some sensors in the system to work properly... major air leaks mean no air going past the sensors

I have no comment for that work order... but run the codes again and see what they are. actually... is the check engine light still on ?
valve cover gasket ??? ok fair enough... drive to an autozone and ask them to read the code(s). unless they have changed their policy this is free. write down the codes and let me know what they are next time you are here
