There are a number of reasons why a car door won't open. First, make sure the car is unlocked. If it is, check the seatbelt. If your seat belt does not fully retract, it may be closed up inside the door of the car. Sometimes when this happens, the door closes with the seat belt positioned over the door's latching mechanism, causing everything to jam.

Very difficult to do. They sell jimmy kits that can be used through the window trim to get the door to unlatch. A locksmith will probably be able to open it for you or try to get the inside door panel off and manually open door using linkage inside of door.
handles may be in good condition but the lever on the latch itself may have came loose. your mostlikley looking at dismantelling the apolsery with the door closed to rectify it.
You probably either have a piece of linkage that has come loose inside the door or the latch mechanism is stuck halfway between "lock" and "unlock" (fairly common on some vehicles). You will need to remove the driver's seat to make room to work so the driver's door panel can be removed if you cannot open the door from either the inside or the outside.
If you can get the door open, then the door panel should be removed to inspect the linkage and latch mechanism.
If it were me , I'd remove the inside door panel and take it from there. It may be that you can pry open the lock mechanism with a screw driver or a similar tool, allowing you to open the door - which obviously you must do. Even that, though, will not solve the cause of your problem. You may wind up at the dealer.
Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle.
It could either be the linkage inside the door popped off, or the outside handle is broke on the inside of the door. this is common with this car and is very fixable.
Cannot open door from inside or out to even check if safety lock is on.
