2004 porsche cayenne turbo starts and then immediately shuts off

I was at a stop light and when I went thru the green light i lost power and the car began to shake. I immediately pulled over...turned the car off and turned it on again with no problems. I proceeded to drive to a nearby gas station (as I was near E) and filled the car. After leaving the gas station, the car continued to stall (about 10 attempts of restarting) it finally gained power and I drove home. For about 5 days straight, I drove the car with absolutely no problems. Went back to the gas station to put more gas, and it stalls. All it does now is start, idle, shake and turn off. I recently had it serviced for a coolant problem and all of a sudden the "check coolant level" light came on. The car didn't over heat nor was there any leaks. I went to Porsche and bought 2 bottles of coolant, added 1 and a half bottles and still the same problem. Only problem solved was the "check coolant level" indicator went off. There are no other indicators on the dash. I'm taking it back to the shop...but wanted to know if anyone has experienced anything similar and what they did to resolve the problem. Thanks in advance!

Did you replace the radiator cover? I replaced mine with a Touareg cover, that looks exactly the same and had coolant disappearing very fast. After looking for leaks, went by Porsche dealer and bought an original cover.Problem solved

That's a lot of coolant to lose in that short amount of time- especially with no visible leaks. It sounds like you might be losing coolant to the cylinders which could be from a bad head gasket or a cracked block. Good luck, let us know what it was!

SOURCE: my porsche cayenne s keeps over heating but only

I think either you may have to flush the radiator or replace the thermostat. Really would not hurt to do both.

Porsche 944 1983 model runs hot. When the fans come on it returns to normal but creeps back up and repeats.

SOURCE: I have a 2005 porsche

This may be due to a reprograming needed, contact dealer and see if there are any bulletins on this problem, also i would check the air filterbox and make sure nothing is blocking air flow, then if all looks good then i would have the computer scanned to see if any fault codes are stored due to this problem.

SOURCE: i have a 04 porsche cayenne turbo that idles great

I have a 2006 cayenne and it sems it too had this problem but afther months of going back and forth from shop to shop, it was a couple of fractured ignition coils, I decided to replace them all. just becarefull with the dealer cost cause those things can cost up to 200 dollars each. I got mine from a website for 70 dollars each and the truck seems to rum better. an just so you have some more info some error codes dont show up on the cluster, like this one that was a missfire the guy who finally hit the nail on the head had to aparently do some searching and diagnostics to find it.

hope it helps

How to remove "service now" on my porsche cayenne

You will need a code reader that connects to the cars OBDII system port. With the reader you can read the codes that are causing the light to come on (fix the problems) and clear the codes. The light will go out. I would caution that if you are seeing the "Service NOW" light that you should stop driving the car immediately and have it looked at. There is another message that says "Drive to service location" which is less severe.
