Power seat quit working - 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Thanks. the fuse is the first thing I checked. The fuse panel is under the hood and I do not see one in the diagram designated for the power seat.

  • Anonymous Nov 29, 2012

Thanks. The first thing I checked was the fuse but there is nothing on the fuse block cover that shows a place for the power seat.

  • Anonymous Feb 03, 2013

I took the fuse out and put it back in and the seat started working again!

    Happy!

Removed positive cable from battery, waited a minute and Voila! it is working.

As other posters have said, the motor might be blown, or the fuse.
Check that stuff first. This particular solution is for the HORIZONTAL movement of the seat (forward & backward). My seat was stuck in the all-the-way-forward position. Not fun for driving (2002 Town & Country, by the way).

If your motor still makes a sound, as if it's trying to move something but is jammed, I have the solution for at least moving the seat MANUALLY. For me personally, not only was I able to move the seat manually, but I guess doing that un-jammed the screw-accuator-drive-whatever-you-call-it. The seat works fine now!

On either side of your seat there is a large plastic panel. The panel is attached with standard Philips screws. There should be 3 of them, so search around and make sure you get 'em all. You can remove either panel (I did the one on the seatbelt side). Once the panel is off, look for a port that corresponds with where the cable from the electric motor (marked "horizontal") attaches within a long rail under the seat. The port will be on the outer side of the seat, more towards the front. It's a circular hole with a square-bit screw in the center. You're gonna need a square-shaped bit in your screwdriver.

Now start turning the the screw and you should notice that the seat is moving. If I remember right, turning clockwise moved the seat backward. This is actually turning a very long screw within that rail under the seat. I noticed I could turn the screw a bit, and then use the control for the seat to supplement the movement until I had it in a good position. For me, this actually seemed to fix the seat, as it moves forth & back using the control just fine. We'll see how long it lasts. Inevitably, I'm gonna have to take it to a pro, but at least the seat is in a reasonable position now!

I apologise if I made any Chrysler mechanics sick with my solution, but there is virtually no information to help a non-mechanical person at least temporarily move their seat when it's stuck like mine was. Good luck, I hope this works.

You either have a blown fuse or a bad seat motor. Fuses are easy and inexpensive to replace. Locate your fuse panel and see if there is a diagram (in most fuse boxes) that allows you to determine the blown fuse. You can use a fuse checker to see if it is blown or just look at the fuse to see if the metal piece inside is broken. That would be the first thing to check. If it is a blown motor, only a certified mechanic would be able to diagnose and repair. In this case, I would recommend looking for a used/re-manufactured part to save some money. Good luck! JD

2007 SRX pedals, adjustable quit, front drivers seat and both heater switches All quit at same time what could have done this? Passenger power seat still works?

Electronic's ! drivers Power seat module , driver door module . Do you know anything about automotive electronic's ?

The heated seat module (MSM) controls heated seat operation for both the driver and passenger seats. There are 2 modes of operation available for heated seats; both the seat cushion and seat back heat, or seat back only heat. When a heated seat temperature signal request is received, the MSM will activate both the seat cushion and seat back heating elements. When the heated seat BACK ONLY mode button is pressed once the MSM will deactivate the seat cushion heating element and leave the seat back heating element ON.
The adjustable pedal system is controlled by the memory seat module (MSM).
your best bet , have a qualified repair shop check it out ! Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in door module , BCM etc...

I have a 2003 trailblazer ltz. The driver side power seat and seat heater just quit working all of the sudden. The passenger side still works fine. What would be the cause?

The power seat and the seat heater should be on seperate circuits. The only thing that comes to mind in relation would be the wiring connections under the seat. If the power seat and heat control are on the same switch assembly, I would suspect a switch failure

Driver's power seat does not work

Are you also having other things that do not have power, such as the radio or power mirrors, or the wireless door locks / security system? I owned a 1996 Oldsmobile product that had the same problem. I discovered that a circuit breaker in the fuse box was being overloaded. The same circuit breaker that operated the seats also operated the wireless remote. Apparently, the wireless remote receiver was getting "hung" and constantly drawing electricity and tripped the breaker. When the breaker tripped, my seats also quit working. Thus I quit using the wireless remote and the seats have worked fine ever since.

hello, have someone check all fuses-and plugs for the power seat, they may be a relay for this problem, can call autoparts store and ask about any relays for the heated seats and the power seat, if thats not it you may have to replace, electric motor for seat, sounds like a fuse, the way it all quit working..

My power seat stopped working in my 2003 Yukon XL. The heated seats stopped working as well.

Try this remove the ckt breaker for the power seats the ckt breaker is located in the fuse box inside down by the drivers left foot. leave breaker out for about 10 seconds then reinstall it and see if the seat starts moving. If it does there is a reprogram for this and needs to be done by a dealer or someone who has access to be able to reprogram your vech.
several things could cause your heated seats to not work. If the seat and heated seat seat stopped at the same time could be the reprogram could fix it. If the heated seat quit working at a differant time it could be the seat heater element. get a schematic of the heated seat and ohm the wires for the element. If either element tests open then the element will need to be replaced. You might as well replace both of them at the same time since the seat covers have to come off to replace the seat heaters.(back and bottom ) If one element is bad then both heaters quit working.

I cannot read what any of the fuses are for. I need a diagram because my power seat quit working. thx

The power seats use a circuit breaker. Power Accessory (PWR ACC) As the breaker cools off, it works again. Suggest your problem is in the power seat switch, or the motor for the power seat.
