It can be faulty coolant temperature sensor. Its not sensing exact coolant heat temperature so its overheating then required level.

-----------

Get the coolant pressure tested, its definitely leaking coolant. You will need to get the coolant running line.

Pressure test will help you to know from where exactly coolant/refrigerant is getting leaked.

07 town car...after I drive my car for a while...it smokes a little when I cuts it off plus I hear a bubbling noise

bubbling noise is the radiator boiling. If you have a viscous fan hub the have it replaced as the engine is getting too hot. When you stop an engine thee is still heat being transferred from the combustion chambers into the coolant. When the engine temp is close to boiling , this heat will cause the coolant to boil when you shut the engine down

I have a 1998 oldsmobile aurora that is overheating. no leaks, runs fine then temp goes up and coolant boils up to the resevoir cap and comes out around the cap. replaced thermostat. fan comes on

Try changing radiator cap if there is no water in the oil it is not a head gasket could be system just needs a flush. It could also be the water pump is not pumping well try the cap first.

93 civic vtec I finally got the radiator fan to kick on a couple times. it only stayed on for 10 seconds both times. could there be air in the area of the sensor that kicks the fan on? I let it run for...

to check if air in system, let cool down and remove radiator / coolant reservoir cap and systematically squeeze coolant hoses including heater hoses, you should see bubbles in reservoir as you squeeze hoses, continue until no more bubbles, then top up coolant to required level.

When idoling or driving car coolant starts boiling over at resevoir.I changed thermostat but did not help.when it boils over, temp is not even half way on gauge

Hi!

Your coolant temp sensor may be defective, check wiring also, if this senor doesn't send the signal the Cooling Fan won't kick in. Fan will come on when temp reaches half way on gauge.

Good Luck!!

Coolant bubbling in resevoir

I assume the coolant is not actually boiling and that the coolant is bubbling even when the engine is relatively cold. If so this would indicate a blown head gasket. Exhaust gases are escaping from a cylinder into the coolant passageways at the head gasket junction

No heat in cab.

You did not BLEED the radiator and it's over heating.

Take off radiator cap when engine is COLD

Start engine

Let it idle until it's HOT

As it heats up you will notice air bubbles coming out of the radiator filler neck.

Let car run until you don't see any more bubbles

Fill radiator coolant to keep it topped up to the hot mark.

Put radiator cap back on once you hear the fans kick on.

Done

You should now have tons of heat

Providing your water pump is working

Water coolant resevoir "bubbles" and temp gauge fluctuates

Check your radiator cap...the rubber seal maybe bad...and as for your guage...check the coolant temp switch or sensor...One controls the fan, and the other controls the guage..

97 deville overheating after having to replace coolant resevoir.Once you let it cool and cycle fluid w/cap off resevoir,it will start forcefully bubbling out and temp.info center reading starts climing...

Gas bubbles in the coolant resevoir while the motor is running indicates a blown head gasket.
If in doubt, take it to a radiator shop and ask for a combustion gas check on your radiator.

I think you need the head gasket replaced.

Location of thermostat and replacement

Finding the thermostat is easy. Just follow the top radiator hose back to the engine.
The question I have is how to get to the bottom screw of the thermostat housing.

Any Sugustions anyone?
