SOURCE: 99 Chevy Malibu - auto trans - no dipstick

You have what is called a closed cased transmission. You have to crawl underneathe to get to the tranny and remove the upper bolt close to the side of the case (more towards the bottom of the transmission). When you fill it, you fill it till it starts to drip out of that hole.

Looking for a picture for you.

SOURCE: Trans-axle fluid leak

checking the transmission fluid involves lifting the vehicle and removing a plug on the transmission, it is quite difficult and messy if you don't have access to a lift, the vehicle has to be level and at operating temperature in park, there is a small plug on the side of the transmission near the passenger axle shaft. remove the plug slowly, i believe it is an 11mm bolt, if fluid drips out, the level is ok, if no fluid comes out, there is a small plastic screw on cap on top of the transmission itself on the driverside near the oil filter cap, add fluid slowly untill fluid starts to drip out of the plug hole, once the fluid starts to drip, insert the plug and tighten, don't overtighten, just snug it up.!!!make sure you use the right fluid, this is important!!! i believe your fluid is dextron 6, double check in your owners manual, the use of any other fluid will cause damage!!! also, do not remove the small plug on the front of the transmission, that is the pressure plug, all the fluid will shoot out with force if that plug is removed!!!

SOURCE: 1997 Chevy 1500 P/U 4x4 small V8. Transmission shifting issue.

you may be confusing the torque converter clutch engagement with o.d. this trans has a problem with the T.C.C. regulator valve wearing out the valve body bore. this will cause the converter clutch to engage only sometimes or not at all. this will set a P1870 code in the control module. when this code is stored in the controller, ( check engine light may or may not be on), it increases the pressure in the transmission causing the 1-2 shift to be harsh. ask a local tranny shop to scan the vehicle ( most will do this for free) if this is the problem they can either fix your valve body (sonnax parts) or replace it with an upgraded valve body. hope this helps

Remove transmission cover and clear filter

You don't clean the filter, you replace it. You need to drop transmission pan to drain fluid, then filter is attached to transmission with a couple of screws. Any good parts store you can buy trans filter & gasket & fluid.

My 1999 chevy suburban slips and doesnt go to 3rd geer do i need a new transmission

sounds like the bands are slipping or the worst case the sun ring gear has broken, in either case a rebuild is necessary. Have you tried changing the filter and fluid to see if this helps? This is a littly costly for the fluids and such but I would at least get an estimate fron a transmission shop, they might get lucky and find a bad selenoid or vacume line.

How to change transmission fluid on 2005 Chevy Express

Purchase trans fluid & filter kit from parts store. With vehicle parked and wheels chocked, undo trans pan slowly loosening bolts allowing one corner to allow fluid to drain (into a catch container of course). Pull pan once drained, remove old gasket, undo screws holding filter in place, replace with new filter, attach gasket to pan, retighten pan, refill.

How do i service my transmission on a 2004 chevy trailblazer

transmission pan must be removed to drain fluid & change filter.loosen all pan bolts, remove all but 4 bolts @ corners.strike pan with a plastic hammer or block of wood if it's stuck. slowly remove remaining bolts, allowing fluid to drain into a suitable container.this can get messy, have rags handy.when drained, remove pan, clean pan & transmission gasket surfaces.pull filter straight down, push new filter on to tube, positioned as original, install new gasket,'run down 'all pan bolts then tighten them securely.

Need to change the transmission filter in '99 chevy suburban 2wd.

If it has over 100,000 miles or so, don't do a complete fluid exchange. Drop the pan, change the filter, and add 2 bottles of Lucas trans. additive. No premises but it's better than a new trans. Worth a try.

I have a 1995 Suburban do you think it is necessary to flush the transmission? I have heard several different opinions from flushing every couple of years to not doing it at all because the tranny can be...

1st let me make sure we agree on what a transmission flush is: the quick oil change places around here offer a transmission flush, when I asked what exactly was done (the price seemed far to cheap to include fluid, filter, and labor), I was informed that a tube is placed in the dip stick, and as much fluid as possible is drawn out, and new fluid added. In my opinion, this is a total waste, I advise that you don't do it. The reason is this: changing your trans fluid AND filter is great preventative maintenance for your transmission. By drawing out the fluid through the dip stick tube, you are still left with a dirty filter. Many vehicles have a magnet located in the pan, and it collects fine metal particles that occur from normal wear and tear. When the pan is removed to access the filter, this magnet can be cleaned, and any abnormal wear (pieces of metal, not fine stuff) can be observed when this is done. Not so with the 'flush'. So yes, service the tranny, but do it the right way.
