I just had a diagnostic ran on my car and was told I had a vacuum leak. I drove it for a couple of days and when I got home the car stopped but the radio and lights were still on

The vacuum leak will make it run poorly also sometime the vacuum leak shows up when it is actually the seal on the fuel cap not sealing properly. if the car shut off with the key still on then it indicates the vacuum leak could be enough to make the fuel mixture too lean to run at idle

CORVETT POP UP LIGHTS Hi I have a 1977 corvett stingray. Do you have any ideas as to get the vacume system on the pop up lights to work correctly. They sometimes will go up, 1 at a time but very

The first thing , this system works on vacuum there are vacuum lines that run from intake to storage can or cans then to light switch inside car then back out to headlights,

i would first start by starting the car and listen for vacuum leaks, you may want to follow the vacuum line form the motor checking for splits or cracks in the lines, listen around can, this can sometimes rusts and leaks vacuum, this can or cans are intended to store vacuum and use it when needed, if they are leaking then the lights will work slow until there is enough vacuum to open them, this goes the same for a bad vacuum line and light switch, the light switch is a two part switch, one part supplies power to lights and the other part is vacuum to open lights.

you will need to listen for a vacuum leak inside the car at the switch, (headlight switch) .

Make sure all lines are good and have no leaks, you will need to make sure the hinges to lights are free and not binding up.

Have a vacumm leak on my 2001chrsyler sebring coupe 3.0

I have a similar response, but if you hear a high pitched noise like a whistle it is possibly a Vacuum leak. You may be able to test the different Vacuum solenoids and the EGR with a handheld Vacuum pump. On some cars, the tubing from the exhaust pipes can make a noise on what some call "Backpressure pipes".

There are vacuum lines running under the dash as well. Any open and leaking lines can affect the settings of a running engine.

There are not too many monitoring sensors for Vacuum, so you may not benefit from a scanner.

My 1998 expedition with the 5.4 triton runs rough at idle but clears up when driveing down road I know I have a manifold leak and the previous owner said it was a coil pack, however after I had advanced...

If you have a manifold leak that will cause a MASSIVE vacuum leak and make it run rough at idle only. Look at your short term fuel trims with a scanner, if they are way negative you have a vacuum leak. Fix the intake manifold leak and that will fix your problem.

I asked a question and I was given this answer; 'when you say pump you mean fuel pump make sure you have no vacum leaks under hood'. however i don't know what 'under hood' means. thanks

that just means in the engen compartment/ where your motor is loacated

  • Connect a regulator to your air pump. It is important that you keep the air intake regulated at about 3 pounds. Too much pressure could cause even more vacuum leaks.

  • 2

Turn off you automobials engine. Attach the hose from your air pump to a part of the vacuum fitting, so air pressure can flow into the intake manifold. Begin to apply air pressure.

  • 3

Spray soapy water onto various areas where your engine vacuum may have sprung a leak. If you see bubbles forming, that means air is being forced through the wrong place, and you have found your leak.

  • 4

Check other engine vacuum areas with the soapy water as thoroughly as possible to make sure you do not miss any leaks. It would not be surprising that there could be more than one leak in the vacuum. While you have the air being forced through and your soapy water ready to go, find all the vacuum leaks at once and save yourself the time and hassle of having to do the whole process over again.

  • 5

Mark any vacuum leaks with a Sharpie or paint to make sure you can find them again. There are a several parts that may need replaced to fix a leaking vacuum. Once you have pinpointed any leaks, your next project will be fixing them. and O'reillys or auto zone both carry varrious sizes of vac. lines.

Loud whistle noise from my 97 dodge ram 1500 sprayed brake cleaner around engine for vacuum leaks but didn't hear any change in idle, so confused.

sounds like a vacuum leak. spray w-d 40 around vacuum hoses to find out. intake manifold might be leaking or sucking air as well use w-d- 40 there as well. if it has a turbo charger it may be going out. water pump, alternator and belts can make winning noises as well.
