Honda's among other vehicles are prone to having this surging problem. I learned a little trick that takes about 5 minutes to do and it has never failed to solve the problem. Take a 1/8 inch drill bit and just below the center of the butterfly on your throttle body, drill one small hole. The vehicle idle surges because the throttle body assembly is not getting enough air through it at idle. This will stop the surging. You only need the 1 hole drilled. Don't forget to stuff a rag or paper towel in behind the butterfly before you drill the hole. It will prevent metal shavings from entering your motor. (do this with the motor not running)

your suggestion was right on the money. the owner had cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner stopping the small air port in front of the butterfly. t

SOURCE: olds alero 2.4 idle fuel pressure

most likely idle air control sensor or low engine coolant I know sounds funny but IAC uses coolant to regulate idle. Idle air control valve or throttle body positioning sensor.

SOURCE: 5.3 L Missing and Rough Idle Intermittently

i have a 2001 chevy z-71 5.3L. I keep getting a random/multiple misfire code for cylinder 1 . I have replaced plugs, wires, coil pack(only on #1 cylinder)., and fuel pump. I still keep getting the cylinder 1 misfire code. I put truck on a scanner and watched the cylinders. # 1 misfires at idle but quickly stops misfiring at around 1000 rpms. you can here the engine miss at idle but truck runs great on road . anyone else ever had this problem?

#4 cylinder misfire

This is a Central Point Injection system. He could not check the injectors that easy. You need to get a thermal camera, or a temperature gun. Take a look at the temperature of the exhaust when the van is running. You will see that the cylinder #4 will be cool compared to the rest. Also you will see that cylinder #4 spark plug will be White in color, when removed. The electrodes of the spark plug will be white. That is a lean condition. That injector is bad. You will need to pull the intake manifold and replace the central point injection system as a whole. AC DELCO Central Port Fuel Injection for Silverado Sierra Express Savana...

Problems with 93 chevy blazer

Your blazer has central fuel injection (CFI). You said you changed injectors, but your injector in inside the intake manifold, and only has one injector and a "spider" of nylon tubes from the central injector to each intake port. It is common for these spiders to break, causing fuel to leak into the inside of the manifold, and cause problems like you described. The spiders are available as reconditioned and are quite expensive,

It is the vORTRC4.3 iT IS THE VORTECH 4.3 ENGINE. I have replaced timing chain & gears, Distributer, and fuel filter, fuel injector "SPIDER", i HAVE CHANGED OUT PLUGS & WIRES AND THIS THING STILL...

Sounds like a possible Idle Air Control valve, or more likely there is carbon stuck in the EGR valve. If the EGR valve is stuck open because of carbon chunks, the engine will run very rough, barely idle, and surge. Remove the EGR valve, clean the inside of it with carb cleaner, and replace the gasket with a screened gasket. This doesnt allow carbon the reach the valve and clog it again. Valve is located on front of the intake manifold. . .under the rubber intake boot going into the throttle body

1997 Nissan Hardbody has rough idle/surges/stalls

the 2001 altima is what i have and I had the same problem as you. turned out to be a bad head gasket factory used cheap ones for a few years before they found the problem. one way to test this is to get a can of carborator cleaner and spray it around the area where the head meets the block under the intake problem should be around the 4th cylinder or close to driver side. if the head gasket is bad the rough idle will smooth out while you are spraying the head.

4.3 Liter V-6 Idles rough when in gear, runs fine on highway.

Can you check fuel trims at idle and under load?
If fuel trim is high at low speed and load, look for a vacuum leak.
If fuel trim is high at high speed and loads, look for fuel volumn problem or restriction.
If fuel trim is high at all speeds and loads look for pcm input fault, maybe a maf sensor problem?
If fuel trim is negative low speed and load, look for fuel pressure regulator or injector leak. If fuel trim is negative at all speeds and loads check ect and iac.

If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems. key on engine off, 60--66 psi fuel pressure.

2001 Nissan Altima with service engine light on

I would check your intake gasket. Get your self ome carb cleaner in a spray form/can and perfrom this test. Run the car and spray the carb cleaner on your intake gasket which is right by your injectors. So pretty nuch spray it at the injector rail and listen fot change in idle, If the idle changes, the intake gasket is torn and you are running lean, because of a vaccum leak. Common problem on your model car. Perform test and let me know what you find.
