2004 Chevy Blazer O2 Sensor

P0155 O2 Bank 2 Sensor 1  I have had this part replaced 2 times and the service engine light still comes on.  I need to get this fixed so I can get tags on my vehicle.  Is there something I am missing or can it be something else wrong.  Description:From my understanding it the sensor in front of the catalitic converter. Please help my Wife needs her vehicle back.  Also is there someplace online where I can get a picture of exactly where this part goes. Thank - you Larry

There are two 02 sensors actually on the engine. bank one is cylinders 1 3 5 bank 2 is 2 4 6. it controls the fuel to air ratio, if the O2 sensor is not working, the engine goes into limp mode, which means it is just putting as much fuel as possible into the cylinder, which will effect your gas mileage.

The O2 sensor may be fine, the pigtails off the 02 sensor go bad, the connection. I had in my car, i change the 02 sensor twice, then I found someone said the pigtails may be bad, so I cut the cars wiring harness pigtail, and the one coming off the 02 sensor, and directly wired it with the original truck 02 sensor, and it worked. all 02 sensors look similar, they screw in the side of the engine, and just have 4 wires coming off of it.

Try your origional one, and just bypassing the original wire connector, what I did was cut it off, skinned the wires, put some heat shrink rap on it, combined the wires together soldered them together, and heated the wire shrink rap, so that way it is water proof. car works perfect now.

O2 sensor is one of the most misunderstood components. It does nothing except to react to conditions in the exhaust mixture, which are the result of what the remainder of the engine is doing. (proper fuel mix, spark control & blowby gasses in the exhaust stream) Though in reacting, it does give the ecm info to which the ecm reacts, generally it is not the sensor itself which is bad, but another malfunction or condition that is providing the sensor with something "bad to read"! Anything from improper base timing, a vacuum leak, a bad exhaust gasket or worn timing chain can change exhaust composition enough to affect what the sensor is seeing! If changing sensor, it is located on exhaust pipe, ahead lof cat (looks like a part of a spark plug with one or two wires coming out of the top. Do not install without using anti-seize compound or you will never get it out again!!
good luck

My jeepliberty will crank but not fire. error code 135 BANK 1 AND 155 BANK 2?

If they are codes P0135 and P0155 they refer to both O2 sensors nearest the engine on the exhaust. The ones before the catalytic converter on each exhaust pipe.
P0135 = O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
P0155 = O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 1

I'm thinking about buying a 2002 range rover. It has a service/check engine codes of 134,135,155. Is it likely to be more than oxygen sensor problems? Please reply , Mel

with those codes showing, it could be either bad O2 sensors or there is a problem with the wiring to those sensors. Also, the wrong sensors may be installed. I'm assuming codes P0134, P0135, P0155.

For others viewing this:

P0134 = O2 sensor circuit-no activity detected (bank 1 sensor 1)

P0135 = O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 1)

P0155 = O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 2 sensor 1)

P0155 & P0135

O2 sensors are tricky. sometimes like anything else they fail. many times though the exhaust mixture they encounter is out of their range and that shows up as a failure.since you seem to have no other problems , I would go ahead and change them, but don't be disappointed if the code shows up again (at least you know it's not the sensors.) I don't like using the process of elimination when doing repairs but sometimes you must.

2001 Blazer - engine warning light stays on

You have a problem with the O2 sensor on bank 2, bank 2 is the bank opposite the bank that #1 cylinder is in, but I would recommend that you replace the bank 1 and 2 sensors as a pair, the factory always wanted it done that way, and you know how cheap they are. The O2 or oxygen sensors are located before the catalytic convertors near the exhaust manifold, they will have anywhere from 2 to 4 wires at the connector, you may need a special socket to remove them if access is a issue. When the parts are installed, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and that will clear the code. Good luck, don't burn yourself!
