Transmission gear assembly and transmission needs inspection. Also check the transmission fluid level. Also is the fluid getting leaked or its low.

Why is my transmission sliping

I would have to say the trans is bad, a qt. over is not good
but not that serious, as well as flushing this will not help.
Check with your Ford dealer and talk tot he service manager, there may be a modulator that has gone bad. Good luck

1986 dodge daytona smokes a lot

Hi Michael, I'm glad to help! When a vehicle starts to smoke, and I'm assuming you talking from the tailpipe. Its alway because there are worn parts, these parts could be anything from: Valve seals, Rings, PCV could be stop up, also on older model like yours, provided it has an auto-trans could be the modulator. This is a round cylinder looking object with a vacuum hose running to it which is attached to the side of the transmission. When it goes bad it will allow trans fluid to slip through it and it runs into the Intake Manifold and smokes out the tailpipe. As you see there are a lot of things that can cause an engine to smoke. You can check the rings by doing a "Cylinder Leak Down Test". The modulator, check it by simply unhooking the vacuum hose and if fluid runs out of the hose then replace the vacuum modulator NOTE: Provided it has a modulator. If both of these are OK, I suggest replacing the valve seals. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Michael.

I have a 96 Monte Carlo that runs and shifts great when motor is cool. When warm, it my problemstarts shifting hard and trans statrs acting stupid. What is my prob?

Id say ur tranny is starting to go bad. Or it could be a modulator, or ur tranny seal needs replaced. The filter inside could of gotten lose. Iwould just take it to ur local tranny shop dont say ur having issues and get a fluid and a screen change should be like $79.00 and if ur having a bad tranny they will say u have metal or tell u there are issues besides the check up needed. I had a trans am and when it got hot it would slip and when i turned coners its was slipping bad. It turned out being the tranny screen had slipped lose. Guess i was jumping bumps to hard. idk but good luck

Trans slips when the trans warms up

Sounds like you have definitely an internal problem in the transmission if its slipping ...

It could have an electrical issue as well like a faulty PCM .

How could the mechanic say its fine if it slips.....
I would start by going to a different shop/mechanic and have them scan the data to see whats going on electrically..but i would think at this mileage and with it slipping you're probably going to be looking at an overhaul/replacement transmission.

I have a 91 honda accord with an automatic trans. & when i shift into reverse it refuses to engage & makes a high pitch gear slipping grinding sound ! NOT GOOD ! ,I just replaced the transmission con

Definitely not good. The transmission is slipping internally due to worn gears and clutch packs. It will have to come out for rebuilding, IMO. Have a transmission shop check it out.
Good luck.

Trans slips between 2nd and 3rd shift

MV could be the problem. Always work thru issue before buying ANY can of additive. Generally those things just mask the issue..not fix it. Change your fluid, and if that doesnt correct it,then take it in and have the tranny bands tightened. most shops do this relatively in expensively.

I would begin by replacing the filter if its not new, 2 possibility of issue, faulty shifting module or defective transmission rebuilt. just because it has been rebuilt does not mean the individual work on it did a good job. the less cost effective way is to locate used modulator from ebay or junk yard, if that does not rectified the issue than more likely it will be the tranny. the bad part is that I dont know of a company offer a bench test for the tranny modulator.

1993 Mustang 2.3 AOD Auto Trans, after storing over winter took on 200 mile trip did find, next time after warmed up and turned off then back on trans slips in upper forward gears. ????? When cold fine, or...

I don't recall ever seeing an AOD trans behind a 2.3 ltr 4 cylinder engine, all the one's i've seen had the A4LD trans in it.That model trans utilizes a vacuum modulator that is mounted on the passenger side of the trans case. The vacuum modulator is responsible in large part for the trans upshifting at the proper speeds.I have seen plenty of cases where those modulators go bad. When this happens, late shifting is experienced, and the same thing happens if any of the vacuum lines under the hood have a problem, like cracks, small vacuum leaks, etc. To diagnose, you have to get under the car,and disconnect the vacuum line from the modulator. If the modulator is bad, trans fluid will run out.If the modulator is good,no fluid will run out.Hook a vacuum gauge to the line down at the trans, and start the engine.Idle vacuum should be 15-18 psi,and when the throttle is abruptly applied to wide open throttle, vacuum should drop to near zero. There is one other area to look for problems on this trans, still externally, and that is the servos. They are located also on the passenger side of the trans case, and there are 2 of them. They are round circular aluminum covers held in place in round bores with snap rings. They can be removed, and are black metal stampings coated in rubber. If the rubber lip seals are hardened up from the exhaust heat, replace them, and you may get your gears back.Good luck.
