The EGR Valve is right under the air intake hose, these have a habit of getting jammed by pieces of carbon. You can remove the valve by disconnecting the wiring connector and removing the two bolts holding it on (10mm head) You should see the piece of carbon holding it open.

Good carb and choke cleaner will clean it up, the get a screened gasket to fix this issue once and for all. I cleaned mine about ten times in four years till I got a screened gasket, then no more issues.

Would a clogged EGR valve cause rough idle in 99 taurus?

"clogged" EGR valve could not cause a poor idle, as it's supposed to be closed at idle. Pinging under acceleration, higher operating temperatures maybe. But it would have to be stuck open (or otherwise open when it's not supposed to be, which includes at idle) to cause a poor idle quality. So, which actual code was this anyway? Because I can't think of any "low pressure" that would relate to the valve itself. It operate on vacuum not pressure. Maybe the pressure sensor, but not the valve. If we had the actual code, maybe someone who knows what's what could clear this up, and save you a lot of money wasted on perfectly good parts being replaced?

Where is the egr valve located on 1994 chevy s-10 blazer 4.3 vortec

The egr valve should be located in the front of the intake manifold by the thermostat housing and alternator. It should be an electronic egr with one electrical connector.

Dies at Idle and decelration - won't start for 15

Hello. I bet your problem is one of these two things. 1: your timing is out. Making it run at such a low idle that it stalls itself out. 2: your truck is running too rich and flooding itself out. Just adjust theb timing a bit and lean the motor out a bit and you should be as good as new! Hope this helps!

'94 Blazer idles rough and sputters, also acceleration is difficult sometimes.

Probably the EGR valve, although mine was having similar problems and found out the oil lines going to the filter were being pinched by the air filter box, bent the lines a little bit and all was well.

My 94 s10 4.3 vortec was running very rough

I hope this helps, I have had this problem 1 other time.
The EGR valve you bought was a negative and it calls for a positive. Or visa/ verse. If that is the case, it will not start. There are 2 different EGR's for 1994, CFI & TBI, both are the type of injection and are not interchangable on the EGR valves.

Rough idling sluggish acceleration

These 4.3L W motors are common for fuel leaking inside the plenum causing them to run rough and smell like raw fuel. The fuel pressure regulator leaks internally, also the injector spider leaks and the two fuel lines feeding the fuel to the spider. You have to remove the plenum and look for the clean spot. Where the fuel leaks it cleans the oil off. Before you try this check your EGR valve. The EGR valves on these get stuck open with carbon and cause a rough idle. Remove it and look for the plunger it is a small round piece that you can push in and out, make sure it closes fully. You can also clean it with carb clean and they make a replacement gasket with a screen in it to keep chunks out of it. Start with the EGR because it is easier. The parts for under the plenum are available at most any parts store. If you have any problems just ask, and if you can not find the parts I will give you part numbers. Let me know what you find I will be back tomorrow.

Potential Symptoms

Symptoms of a P0118 could include:

* Very poor fuel economy
* A no start condition
* Vehicle may start, but run very poorly, blowing black smoke, running very rough and misfiring
* Illumination of MIL
EGR valve

Usually a fault in the control circuit, will leave no noticeable symptoms other than the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. However, if the EGR control solenoid
is stuck open due to debris, etc. the code may be accompanied by misfire under acceleration, rough idle, or engine dying altogether.

Idle problems

if it is a vortec 4.3l they were real common for egr valve problems. you can remove the egr check for carbon stuck in the plunger. after cleaning reinstall with a new gasket. New gaskets with a screen are available to keep this problem from happening again the standard part number is VG57. When carbon gets stuck in the egr valve it causes a vaccum leak and rough idle. please rate this if it helps
