Re: 1993 dodge dakota installed new fuel pump and checked...
Check the shutoff inertia switch. The pump relay/fuse or it could be a bad pump circuit. It could be any of these. Make sure the gas cap is tight. fuel pressure must be good for the pump to work.

Jan 22, 2009 - have a 1993 dodge dakota sport that wont start. when you turn the key on there is no power to the fuel pump and does not fire. any ideas ... I just bought a1990 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 5-Speed, there is only one problem, it only .... I went to move it the other day, it would turn over, but had no spark or gas.
If you cannot hear the fuel pump prime up when you turn the key to on there is a fault with your fuel pump. check the fuse in the fuse relay box and the 2 wired connections on the fuel pump, if still no good than replace the fuel pump
you have to drop the tank out of the truck first empty all the gas then drop it out and pull out the old fuel pump and replace it with the new one put back into the truck put some gas in and your done
yes if the fuel pump is electric but if not it will be a mechanical pump and if so i would recomend replaceing the pump but if electric check all fuses and relays
i just had this problem with my 93 dakota. my truck had a fuse in the same fuse block as the relays. i had to end up bypassing the relay with an inline fuse holder that i put a 20 amp fuse in i later found out that these trucks had a problem with the auto shutdown system that i was unable to figure out.
where is the shutoff inertia switch?
