Hi, My battery keeps going flat, purchased new battery and after a week of no use the new battery is already flat??????/
Could be your alternator is bad,belt is loose,Autozone will test for free,also check the fusible link at positive battery cable,could be burnt or melted.,
Hi and thanks for your reply. The alternator is OK I think because when drive the car for a while the battery gets charged fully and no dash board light s come on etc, No noises from a loose belt niether. I have just noticed the negative battery terminal wont tighten up due to a cross thread on the clamp, Would taht discharge the battery please? Many thanks for your time.

sounds like there is a dodgy earth or have you had a new stereo/electrical equipment fitted? could be that there is a fault in the electrics causing the power to drain, wouldnt say that it was the immobiliser though.

regulator on the alternator or the stator itself, either way itll be easier to just replace it, unless it is the model with the vacuum pump on the back then i would be very expensive, take to auto elec, if only for testing then you can decide wether to fix yourself or leave it with them, any decent joint will grab a multi meter and test it for free, as it is a diesel it does not have spark so you cant do the remove a battery terminal test. the engine will continue running with a bad alternator or not.

looks like you have something draining the battery (something electrical staying on) disconnect your battery negative terminal and connect a test light between the battery post and the wire clamp if the light comes on you have battery drain (make sure interior light is out when testing) you now need to go through all elctrical systems to trace the reason why ( check boot light goes out first this was a favorite cause)

Yes,a loose connection will cause this,I would replace terminal.
