My drivers side window doesnt close properly by maybe only a couple of mm so apart from being cold it makes a loud whistling sound now when travelling at speed, any suggestions?

2004 jag x type sport drivers window developed a mind of its own. upon closin it would get halfway up then stop and go back down again. after doing this a couple of time it would eventually close properly, now it leaves a gap of a few mil. it did this last year but worked its way out

Bro, it's just that the automatic stops need reset on the door glass to make it close ALL the way up against the seal. Then no more whistle. I dislike that sound also.

SOURCE: Rear window on driver's side slides down

I've had this problem and I believe its a common problem with S types. There is a white plastic slider that wraps around a metal strut and moves up and down as the window opens and closes. The problem is that the plastic slider breaks if the car door is slammed when the window is half way down, When this occurs the slider breaks free and the wire that pulls it up and down wraps itself around the motor and jamms everything up. The fix is to replace the window regulator as a complete unit. This fairly straight forward and worth the effort as you most likely will be replacing the other regulators if you keep the car for a while. Buy the regulator either from Jag dealer or OEM part which is approx 1/2 the cost (I found mine on ebay!). Make sure your get the correct unit, left, right, front and rear are different. Take off the door panel, its all clips except you need to unscrew the two scews under the rubber insert in the door pocket first. After you have removed the panel remove the black plastic cover as well. You need to detach the glass window from the regulator, This is done by punching out the brass insert in the middle of the plastic plug that is pushed through a hole in the glass. Be careful, if you hit it too hard you can break the glass, I ended up drilling it out as this was easier. Once you have the plastic plug out the glass is detached and you can remove the regulator. This is just a few screws, the only tricky part is to get the angle right to pull it out the door frame. Installation of the regulator is just the reverse. Good luck.

SOURCE: how can i fix my broken drivers side window on a jag s type

sounds like the window has come off the metal scissor runner, there is a metal fixture attatched to the bottom of the window, which has a channel groove,,,, the scissor runner has a nylon wheel at either end, which sits into the window frame groove..if these wheels come out, they cause a crunching noise..so, you need to remove door panel, and put window frame and runners together

SOURCE: how do i remove the drivers side door panel on a

This is the same front or rear door. 1. remove rubber insert at the bottom of the arm rest/door handle 2. remove the 2. philip head screws. 3. run hand along bottom edge of door panel to ensure no other securing screws. 4. starting at the top rear edge of the door panel side a large flat screw drive/door panel tool(what ever you have) 5. lift sharply and you will here poping noises fromt the push clips lifting out of the socket. 6. as you work down the rear edge of the door panel you will see the trim around the interior door handle lift away. remove it. 7. the interior door handle will remain on the door. 8. remove the rest of the door panel.

My 2011 BMW 328i Is making a loud whistle sound with rough idling. The whistle is loud like a tea kettle. It makes this noise after i drive it for 10 min or so. Can you please help?

Sounds like a vacuum leak has developed in the intake system. While the engine is whistling, using a spray bottle with water and on the mist setting, spray along the intake manifold area and vacuum hoses to locate a possible leak.

How do I replace the window weatherstripping on both the driver and passenger side windows on my 2000 Mistubishi Eclipse GT?

Only the dealer will have them through special order and they should come with instructions. VERY EXPENSIVE!

My power windows will not work, and they make a clicking sound, sometimes I can open my door and close it and then they work. Also my heater does not get hot. My car is a 2002 Mercury sable.

Sounds like two different problems.

First the power windows: The power for your windows goes through a shielded cord that travels from the inside of the door to under the hood. If you open the door you can see this wire beside the hinges. If the wire is broken inside this shielding or shorted it will not work. Because you can open and close the door and sometimes it works. It sounds like an intermittent short.

The drivers side window button will make a clicking sound by the way it is made but the sound could be from inadequate voltage to the motor.

What I need to know is: Do any of the windows work? Do all of the windows make the clicking sound? Can you describe the sound in more detail?

The heater: Ford/Mercury radiators are known to get hot. So low heat is not common. The first thing to check, with the engine cold, is the fluid level. Normally the radiator has a cap to add fluid and look inside. However ford/mercury did not do this on many of the 2002 Sables. So you will have to look at the reservior. The big white tank on the side under the hood. It will be hard to read but there with be a cold line and a hot line on the side of the tank. With the engine cold the level should be above the cold line. If it is not then you will have to add radiator fluid and water (unless you buy premixed). This is the normal problem.

If this does not work then it can be the thermostat or temperature sensor. (The sensor will create an error code the thermostat probably wont). But check your fluid levels and tell me how it goes.
