G'Day, I got a Ford Cougar here that, when A/C is activated, blows very warm air. It seems to work fine in some rare occasions, but most of the times it gives this defect. Sometimes, it start working fine for about 10-20 seconds upon activation, but followed by an 'strange' sound it start blowing very warm air instead. Even if I turn the A/C button off afterwards, it keeps giving this warm air instead of just regular intake air. I can't really figure out the problem as, in my opinion, if it needs a regas it should give warm or not temperatured air at all times. Just the fact that in some cases it works fine got me puzzled! Any ideas how to fix this?? Thanks in advance
Seems like the blend door is intermittent,Like you said in some cases it works fine,Either the blend door is intermitent or the cycling switch is intermittent this is located on the filter drier when this pressure switch fails the A/C goes intermittent
Thanks Reynaldo for the suggestion. I gonna need to check this tomorrow, or any time soon as Summer is kicking in here! Where are these components located, and are they easy to repair, or might replacement be necessary? It seems that everytime it does this, a strange 'accelerating' sound can be heard, and both a/c as well regular fan blows hot air. At first i thought it might be a regas, but since it works fine occasionally, it is kinda more an electrical problem...
I wish I could post a picture here, your best bet is go to the clutch cylcling switch or what is called the low pressure switch and jump the terminals together this will make the A/C work if it begins to operate fine replace the low pressure switch, it in the open on the filter drier, but still yet make sure the vacuum hoses are connected that meansYour A/C controls are vacuum operated so look and listen behind the glove box make sure the connection re intact, this can be you strange noise you hear
Hi Reynaldo, sounds pretty logistic, although I need to see it first in order to understand connection and how it operates. If you could send a picture or diagram that would be wonderfully appreciated: [email protected].

SOURCE: heater on ford 2003 ford pick up blows cold air
on the evap box there is a control mtr that switches the hot cold door. these mtrs are prone to failure. the other problem that i have seen is that the door breakes in side the evap box and that means removing the box to replace the door . if i remeber correctly you may have to slide the dash back to gain assces to the control mtr to test it good luck
SOURCE: AC not blowing cold air at times
poss causes are, sticking low pressure switch, defective Ac compressor clutch closing coil or incorrect clutch driven plate air gap, spec is 0.26 thousands.

sounds like you have a leak in the system and have air that has entered into the system.
best to have it serviced by a shop, the system will need to be inspected to find the leak and then evacuated. part replaced and refilled.
leak detector will be okay
Do NOT use the cans of refrigerant with sealer in it.
and do not let the shop put a sealer in it, in the long run this will cost you the replacement of the whole a/c system.

Have your a/c tech look at the pressures at an idle. It sounds like the condensing coil does'nt have enough airflow or the compressor is week. Another possible problem could be that the temp control door is'nt operating properly. Hope this helps. Good luck.

take the dash off to see if the vents are connected to the dash. if not, the heat from the engine is blowing through the open hole
