I have a 1999 Honda Passport and I just recently started to have 4x4 issues. When the 4x4 button is pressed it goes solid as usual showing that the 4-wheel drive should be engaged but the front wheels do not turn. The 4x4 button works as normal but again...no 4x4 engagement as the front wheels do not turn whatsoever. Help!

First of all, the problem was caused by lack of use of the 4x4. The fix was to have someone sit in the seat & turn the switch while 2nd person tapped on 4x4 solenoid underneath the truck (next to the gearbox (seen from rear of truck) about directly below middle-rear-seat). It must have become stuck (or rusted) together? Little taps while engaging switch 'unfroze' it. My 2 fuses that were blown were probably caused by overloading when I first tried to use the 4x4 while it was frozen out. Since fixing, just be sure to turn it on (and off) frequently, even if you don't need it. You don't actually need to drive with it, just engage it temporarily.

i would check to see if power is going to the 4 wheel drive aculator. if there is power then your aculator is bad. it is located at the front diff.

if it is push button then it is electrical problem if it is level operated its mechanical. im pretty sure there would be no vacuum lines involved here.. i really cant help because your not telling me if it makes any noise when trying to engage or anything like that
SOURCE: is the 1999 honda passport a front wheel or rear
Rear. In Europe was on sales until 2003 (last line made) by OPEL as frontera. Equipped mostly with 2.2 Turbo diesel engines, rear wheeler, ability to engage 4WD, under motion up to 60MPH, having automatic front diff locks, and despite the bad critics about crash tests and behaviour, well sold. Still on the roads.

you might have an actuator out, some of those have a shifter, but a solenoid still has to be actuated
