GMC Yokon XL Fuel gage

My 2004 Yukon XL fuel gage was not correct all the time.
Right after my warrantee expired, fuel gage was not showing correct.
I have to guess how much gas I have with mileage.
I went to dealer for a special warrantee to fix the gage panel cluster, but still same.
Any help?

    When I fill-up, gage show 3/4 full.

And after that, gage show up and down.

Today showing run out of gas, later today 1/2 full.

gage are not correct but never show more than I have.

Sometimes you can use resisters to check the fuel gage. You take wire connector loose from sending unit, the proper two wires, you use a resistor between those wires, one resistor for empty and another for full, turn key just till dash lites come on, note the gage. If the gage reacts properly to each resistor, the problem is the sending unit in the gas tank. Just my opinion.

Problem may be with the level sending unit, which is part of the fuel pump assembly in the fuel tank. You can check this with a good code reader that will give you live data from this unit and compare it with what the gauge is saying. If they don't match, you can try a good quality fuel system cleaner to see if that solves the problem. If they do match, then the problem is probably still in your instrument panel (IP) or engine computer.

SOURCE: location of fuse box/panel for 2004 yukon denali xl

There are 2 fuse panels in the Denali.
One is a panel on the drivers side, its on the dash but facing the door.

The ohter is under the dash and above the pedals, this one is much tougher to access.

Your Owner's Manual should tell you where the fuses are that you need to access.

You can get the codes checked and see if you have a level sensor code. The level sensors are known to go bad on these vehicles.Sometimes when you rock the vehicle it will start to work properly. What happens is the fingers on the level sensor wear out and it works erratically. You can get the level sensor separately from the fuel sending unit.Hope this helps.Good luck.

These codes let you know the engine is running to lean on gasoline . May be only a plugged fuel filter or weak fuel pump. A vacuum leak can cause this problem . The engine controller may need reprograming with new software. Dirty fuel injectors. Try adding fuel conditioner to the gas tank and changing fuel filter.

My 2004 gmc yukon xl will run after 2 times cranking

Low fuel pressure ? What engine ? 4.3 vortec ? Center port fuel injection ? . These are real picky if it does have proper fuel pressure , won't start . These are know for various problems , leaking fuel pressure regulators located under the intake manifold . That is if your yukon has this system ?

My 2004 yukon xl wont start

You need spark at the right time, fuel pressure at the injectors, and normal compression.
Have the spark plugs been changed in the past couple of years ?
Have you checked the fuel pressure to see if it is enough ?
Have you sprayed carb cleaner into the throttle body to try to make the engine try to start ?
Does it sound like it has normal compression when cranking ?

Fuel regulator location

It is inclusive in the fuel pump. There isnt a replacement only replace the fuel pump. I just took of the intake manifold assembly to look for it and it was not there. I then dropped the fuel tank and it is not there. The answer sad to say is replacing the fuel pump. Use the AC Delco Fuel pump the generic brands failed ed a few people multiple times.

I have a 2003 Yukon XL 1500 with the 5.3L engine. Twice in the last week when I was on the Interstate and had the cruise control on the vehicle unexpectedly stalled and I had to guide it to the shoulder....

there are a few causes for this to happen
I just put a fuel pump in yesterday in a 04 yokon XL with the same issue
it had a plugged fuel filter, and low fuel pressure.
Same complaint, coming from CA to TX, freeway speed cruise on and it just dies.

The vehilce needs to be looked at, and have vehilce scanned for codes.

I hope this helps.

My GMC yukon XL 2001 engine runs after 4 times of cranking.

Try turning key to on only, not start, 2 or 3 times first then try to start. If it starts good first try, then I'd change my fuel filter & then have fuel pressure tested if fuel filter didn't help. You may be looking at a new pump, but lets do filter & test fuel pressure first.
