1998 Malibu runs & then dies

Have 1998 Malibu will run for about 5 minutes and then just die. i let it set for an hour and it fires up like nothing is wrong but after 3-5 minutes it dies again. The check engine light turns off once started, the theft system light (not blinking) turns off once started. when it won't start i can still hear the fuel pump develope pressure when i turn the key on. is there an electrical component that is shutting down once it reaches a given temp?

Hi

There is a possibility that the baffle in the fuel tank has come loose. The fuel pump has like a reservior that the pump fits in to assure that fuel stays around the pump at all times.

Kindly check it.

Thanks

Hello,

If it is sputtering when it dies, then it is probably fuel related. Given the track record of GM fuel pumps, I wouldn't doubt that you would hear the pump, but it still may not be working properly.

Just out of curiosity, have you checked the fuel filter?

I have a 1989 Ford f150 drive for about 30 minutes it dies out or stop and want crank for about an hour

I would unplug the gas cap when it stalls; if you hear a hissing sound, change the gas cap, because it builds up a vacuum in the tank.

What do i need to check for when my 1987 nissan 4wd pickup 2.4 will start up and run for about 5 minutes and then it dies and will not fire on either coil?

One of the coils is not working and the other is design to shut off after reaching temp . Check both coils when first starting to locate the faulty coil

6.5 tubbo diesel died and wont start back

Sounds like the fuel pump got air in the system. You may have to bleed out the air. Then it will run. Check the fuel tank for fuel first.
