I would start by moving the coil packs, take the coil pack from cylinder 1 and put it on cylinder 3 and if your misfire switches to the no.1 cylinder you need a coil pack, It would probably run you about a 100$ for the coil pack

SOURCE: Hi I have ignition problems on

Causes one or more of the following has happened:

  • Faulty spark plug or wire
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Running out of fuel
  • Poor compression
  • Defective computer
About the possible solutions, if there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the codes stored and see if it comes back (if you have someone).

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable).

Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Keep us updated.

SOURCE: toyota previa misfiring

It sounds like the rotor button is not making a good connetion. i recommend replacing the distributor cap and rotor button to be safe. It is a cheap solution.

SOURCE: My car is misfiring around the 3rd cylinder, where

The third cylinder is the third spark plug wire from the passenger side of the car. An easy way to tell if this is the cylinder that is misfiring is to pull up the spark plug wire using insulated pliers with the car running. If there is no change in idle speed then that's the dead cylinder. If when you pull out the spark plug wire you see sparks shooting all over from it (a very common problem) then you need a tune-up.

Toyota celica vvti 1.8 2000 has a delay in power when accelerator pressed have changed throttle housing but no difference

hi,
My 2000 1.8 had a similar issue. Come to find out that the first fuel injector on the fuel rail seems to act like a "fuel filter" and catches all the micro particles in the fuel. So, Cylinder 4 misfires due to lean mixture. I am going to install an in-line fuel filter to prevent this.

P2111 tac sys stuck open on a 05 ford F150

TACM-throttle actuator control motor,on throttle body

Spray throttle plate

Check for COP Ignition Coils for misfires

The misfiring coils spike the PCM and come
back on the TPS Sensor, and you loose TACM
control (thus the 2111)

Sounds like the TPS (throttle position sensor) usually located where the throttle body meets the intake manifold. It may need re-calibrating or renewing.
