Range Rover p38 bmw 2.5 injection running problem

I have a 1997 Range Rover p38 with BMW 2.5 diesel injection engine, since being out in cold conditions (minus 4) on tuesday she runs like she is running out of fuel, but no she has plenty.
Also doesnt want to start unless you hold the ignition key on until it eventualy catches, she ran okay on the outward journey 16 miles then decided she didnt like me anymore.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Hello,
It turned out to be a broken wire on the injector which was causing a bad connection, now running better than before.
The cold was just a coincidence.

Thank you and best regards,Yvonne

Have the freelanders from 2002 got fitted a chain cambelt ?

Freelander TD4 diesel has a chain (mega bucks), L series diesel (pre BMW engine) has a belt (plus a small belt for the injection pump). the K series 1,8 petrol and KV6, 2.5L also have belt's.

P38 diesel fuel injector pump overheats and inhibits starting

This is an unusual problem as injector pumps use diesel to lubricate internally and to cool the pump. For it to overheat and cause you problems means that fuel is escaping under high pressure or the operating pressure is excessive . Best discuss this with a professional diesel pump repair shop as I feel there is a serious problem in the pump.

1998 range rover p38 2.5 dse auto engine stalls

Sounds like something is overheating then and possibly a sensor. Not familiar with Rovers but might be a problem with the CAS and/or CPS which tells the ECU the motor is running and when to fire. Also maybe the IAC is bad and when you go from throttle to idle it can't control it and allows it to die.
