Lifter damaged twice now. Suspect oil issue. No oil spurting from any of the push-rods/rocker arm assembly during cold idle (front 3 cylinders) No valve train noise either after replacing lifter. How to determine if lifter oil galley in block is obstructed vs. simply low oil pressure?
I tried the DIY service and repair manuals from a website and it actually helped me repair transmission problem in my jcb 3cx site-master. it wont move
forward or reverse, engine is good both solenoids for forward and reverse work.
I don't have much technical knowledge but I just followed it step-wise, and works perfect! got it from www.reliable-store.com

This is not normal for this engine. The only oil problem that does happen with these is when the oil pick-up screen becomes clogged. The oil pan will need to come off to clean it. The only knocking problem with these 3800's is the harmonic balancer that may need to be replaced. It will make more noise with the ac on.

You are probably correct. If the oil level is at the full mark and the oil has always been changed according to sepcified mileage I would remove the valve covers and see which lifter(s) are the problem. You can purchase clips which are placed on top of the lifters to keep the oil from squirting all over everything. If you don't know what you're doing hire someone who does know. If you do not adjust the lifters correctly you will cause damage to the engine. I don't know the mileage on your engine or brand of oil which has been used over time so there could be other factors like wax build-up, sludge, worn out parts or a failing oil pump.

If the engine oil was full of antifreeze when the intake gasket went bad, then there is a good chance that there may be some cam and/or lifter damage. A more likely cause of your problem would be that the push rods got mixed up when you put it back together. The intake and exhaust rods are different lengths. If this is the case, and you have turned the engine over, there is a good chance that you now also have a bent pushrod and intake valve. The exhaust pushrod is the longer one and if you mix them up, the piston will contact the intake valve because it will not be able to close due to the longer pushrod. This will bend or break the pushrod and bend the valve stem.
If oil galleries are blocked up in rocker assembly then inserficiant oil gettingto rockers
