If the blower motor is gone u will get no air cold or hot.
If it is the switch you would hear the blower but maybe get no hot but just cold air or vice versa.

Early golfs mk1 n 2 have switch probs if heater not working! if you can feel hot air at your feet then your matrix is good at least! you will get hot or cold air when your driving if youve selected hot or cold on the panel.sounds like switch to me

Sometimes I don't get the right answer that i want, but is that it to my mk3 96 Golf III GL or is there more relay locations i don't know about?

There is a small hose between the head and the bubble, this is a steam path that can clog in the head side. Disconnect the hose from the head side and poke it with a wire to make sure it is clear.
The coolant used must be compatible with existing coolant when refilling.
At 100k miles, it is time for a timing belt change, and at 60k there after, do the water pump too while at it.
Keep in mind those stretch bolts, used only once.

Mk3 golf handbrake light problem

That hand brake light is also your conventional brake
warning lite. Hopefully its the flimsy connector and switch that is making it flicker. But to play it safe have some one do an inspection of your brake system and if it turns out to be the wiring or the switch we can both laugh about it. This repair is not a biggie at all IF ITS THE SWITCH OR ITS WIRING.

VW GOLF MK3 GTI 8v starting problems

My mk3 1996 16v 2ltr was playing up, wouldnt start when cold, wouldnt rev above 4500-5000. I changed the ignition switch, ecu relay, petrol pump relay, plugs, plug leads, coil, and finally, checked the hall sender on the dizzy, and found a broken wire in the dizzy body. Got a 2nd hand dizzy from a breakers for 40 quid, (150 or more new) and all is well. (I actually took the car to two garages and they couldnt find the problems, no faults registered on vagcom).

Problem is most likely to be mass airflow meter. Try disconnecting it and see if the problem stops

Starting

Look on the starter, there are 2 terminals (plastic and black) if i remember correctly, alot of times the top connector gets loose or disconnected. Make sure all connections on starter are clean and secure. Try that before anything else.

Fan or heater switches bulb gone

Apparently, this problem you are experiencing is quite common in VW MK4 Golfs, it's not the bulb but the lighting connection behind your switch. If you bang the right hand side sides your gan controls your fan lights should appear again. Sounds crazy but it's true. I know few people with VW Golf who have this problem.
