SOURCE: timing marks

If u cannot obtain the itming marks, u mite have to time the engine by first pricnciple. Ensure that #1 cylinder is @ TDC (compression stroke). Install the camshaft making sure that the cam lobes for #1 cylinder are on the lower side and not on the tip of the cam. Also when installing the distributor, ensure that it's set to spark @ #1 cylinder. In modern day vehicles, the distributor can only be fitted one way so theree is no need to time the ignition timing via distributor. If this is too much, u can check the crankshaft & camshaft sprocket for distinct timing markings . This should be checked when the components are clean

1997 Toyota 4Runner keeps shutting off?

Scan for DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes). Too many things it could be. What is the anti-theft light doing? We don't guess at replacing parts, we diagnose. Here are some guesses.

Installing timing belt with out timing marks on belt for toyota 4runner 3.0l v6

If the motor was running fine it would be safe to assume the timing is correct and you can make your own set of marks before you remove the original belt and use them for fitting the new belt.

Alternatively use the valve timing figures available in the technical data section of the manual. Using a degree disc can be slow and tedious but it is accurate.

How much oil goes in 1988 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6?

Start with 4.5 quarts, then check the dipstick. Keep adding 1/2 quart at a time until the level is between the low, and full mark on the dipstick.

Installed head gasket and timing belt, will not start 1997 toyota 4runner

Be sure you have the crankshaft mark and cam mark are still in position. They do NOT move, EVER. If the were to move, it would throw the cam timing off, and THAT's not supposed to EVER happen. Running it with cam timing off will not work. It won't run. As you can well see. IF it's moving, there's something else wrong, like most likely the tensioner is malfunctioning and not keeping the belt tight.

I have a 95 toyota 4runner v6 I replaced the head gasket, timing belt,my timings marks are were supposed to be reset my timing with a timing ligth to 10 btdc ,when it's in neutral it's revs to 5000...

I believe you are on the right track. Sure sounds like a timing issue to me. Lack of power with no back fire. You may have to get online or get a manual to verify your timing marks are in fact correct.

For a V6 # Liter engine, you will use a galon and almost half (that is about 6 Liters of oil). I use a Toyota camry V6 3 Liter engine that shares the same engine with the Toyota 4Runner.
