My car bogs in and out, sometimes it will actually shut off but that is mainly when i am taking a turn and i push on the gas too hard. it also sounds loud like a lawnmower. ive had the lawnmower noise problem before and it was cause a hose was missing which would cause it to overheat then make the noise. but this time i dont think its the hose, my biggest problem is i dont know **** about cars. any idea would help! thank you so freakin much man!

Check the EGR for leaks. Here is th emost common cause of idle surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

SOURCE: hooting noise coming from rear right side of car

It might be a warped brake rotor. Does the noise change depending on if you have your foot on or off the brake pedal?

Are you needing advice, links, tricks, or all of the above?
If it's advice you want:
If you are not buying an after market harness and all of the oem wiring is intact replace one wire at a time from the component all the way back to the fuse box. Its tedious but, it's a sure fire way to get it right the first time.

Secondly, I'd by a haynes manual or some other wiring diagram. Study it for at least a couple weeks or until you are completely comfortable taking on the task.

Color code your wires and label both the old and new ones with paper tape and a permanent marker so that you know what each one is for.

Last but not least, make sure that the battery is disconnected... ;o)

86 4.3 litre V6 chevy el camino bogging down, stalling out

most likely a weak fuel pump or a clogged filter. Check fuel pressure with a gauge or as its bogging down spray brake cleaner in the Throttle Body. If this allows it to increase RPM then its the pump or filter.
