This sounds as if the axle bearing is rusty or wear down. You might consider changing it. Don't waist time trying to figure it out why? things get old and needs to be change after time.

SOURCE: I have a 2003 nisan maximawhen accelerating I hear

You hear clicking from the engine. If it increases in speed when you accelerate and decreases as you slow down, try listening for it in park. If the sound continues you need to take it to a shop. If the sound is only present when you are moving you need to have your CV joints checked.

SOURCE: Can bad CV joints cause steering to be harder, and

Possible lower ball joint it sounds like, if it was a cv joint more than likely it would make a noise anytime the vehicle is in motion

SOURCE: Car won't move

It would appear that your CV joints are worn out completely, and you are going to have to replace them, or the whole half-shaft. When you hear those funny noises, that is your car talking to you... the only way it can, and you have to fix those noises ASAP.

Makes loud noise

It sounds like one of your CV (constant-velocity) joints is going bad. This is common on front wheel drive vehicles. The CV joint allows the drive axle to pivot as you turn the wheels. Over time the protective boots crack, the grease leaks out and you end up with the knocking noise you describe when turning while accelerating. The dealership should easily be able to inspect the CV joint boot and diagnose the CV joint.

99 geo metro automatic transmission grinds when put into gear,it happened with no warning of a malfuction, what happened?

CV Joints can break internally and cause the sound similar to trans problems.

You will either need a new axle/CV Joint, or to probably replace/rebuild the Transaxle completely.

You may be able to tell more from underneath with someone turning the wheel as you watch the CV Joint housing to make sure it's moving at the same time on both ends. If one end of the shaft moves, the other should move equally, not just the axle shaft, the ends that go into the trans and through the front wheels!

Good luck!

It sounds like you have either a bad cv axle, or ball joint. It's most likely going to be your cv axle tho. I sure hope this helps, rate this. :)) James Booth

The front left wheel makes a terrible grinding popping sound when I turn the wheel to the left. It also seems to be driving a little "weird", kind of "mushy" and loose. There is a boot...

That a CV joint you're describing. That boot protects bearing from dirt getting in and grease from getting out. You don't have to hit anything, they split with age, deteriorate and sometimes actually twist on shaft and gives the appearance like you smacked something. Replace or have someone replace CV joint and boot on that wheel and you should be good to go.

I have a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Recently during a snow storm the vehicle went through a ditch. No damage was done to the car. It was the most minute accident ever. Anyways the next day i noticed some noise...

Based on your description, I'm thinking the problem is in the transmission casing. I was thinking it was a wheel bearing, based on your description, but that is contradicted by the fact that you say it doesn't sound like it's a wheel or hub bearing.

You say that the the rf cv axle is now leaking where it goes into the trans. I'd say that's a good place to start looking.

A damaged cv axle or half shaft might make more clicking noises on a tight turn. The cv axle is greased up and has balls inside some designs.

Have you checked the transmission fluid level to see how much fluid has been lost thorugh the place where the cv axle enters the trans.? If adding fluid makes the sound lessen or go away, then the trans. is at fault, vs. the cv axle.

Good luck on this repair.

Makes a hard clicking sound in the passenger side tire area when i turn either way. ony when im sitting still and start to turn tho.

this sounds like a bad cv axle, this is what turns the wheels to make the car move if its clicking its going to break soon and leave you stuck out on the road, the axle needs replacing.
