Fuse keeps popping - 20A ENG CONT 1

Cold morning (5 F) tried to start car. Initially engine started for 5 seconds then stopped. Attempts to start it failed. Engine turns over but no sign of catching. Checked fuses and discovered blown fuse in ENG CONT 1. Changed fuse but new 20A blows as I try to install. Any idea where my short is coming from?

SOURCE: ENG CONT FUSE BLOWS CONSTANTLY

check the wire harness to the ecm... which is located under the radio... if you , like I , live in a wet / snowy climate... the water /ice from your boots melts and collects near the harness. Maybe it corroded a wire and is causing it to short?

SOURCE: fuel pumpfuse keeps blowing

Disconnect the batter. Under the hood, you should find a fuse/relay box. There you will find a Fuel Pump Relay. The back side of the box lid will have a diagram (should have) that will indicate which one is the Fuel Pump Relay. Replace the relay and try again. If the problem persists. you may need a new fuel pump. Some vehicles are equiped with a "secondary' fuel pump, usually located near the back of the engine, mounted to the frame. This one will be easier and probably cheaper to replace, vs the one in the gas tank. In my experience, even with a plugged fuel injector, an engine will still start and run, just not as smoothly. Also, check all your spark plug connections, battery connections, and starter connections. Do this with the battery disconnected. This is just a way of making sure all connections are good, in the even that is the problem. You can do this before purchasing any parts. For your battery, you can put some terminal grease on them to prevent corrosion, rust, and acid build up; a common cause for faulty connections, resulting in such issues.
I hope that this information was useful, and aids in the successful recovery of a healthy running vechile for you.

YES you need them, ENG MTG is the Engine Management system, and the ENG CONT is the
Engine Control system so you see if they are disconnected you will have a good time wondering what is up with the car

I have an '04 Sebring Convertible with the 2.7L V-6 engine. It has been running fine with no problems for over a year since I bought it. Then the other day, I had it detailed and drove it home...

This happens all too often on the Chryslers, the starter fuse blowing. The cause in most cases is the starter solenoid. I recommend replacing the starter and the solenoid when this happens, to keep from having to do it again a few months later, I hope this helps.

When cold in mornings when back up then shift into

Every car needs a heating engine time specially when its cold, I recomend like about 5 to 10 minutes after you start engine and before you change from P to D. If you try to start the engine first time in the morning, it's cold outside and you immediately go on run you are going to have this trouble every time. Every engine has it's operational standard temperature a 5 to 10 minutes working engine, car stopped, may guaranty this standard temperature and optimal function conditions, and also keeps a longer life of your car.

Good luck

The A/C relay is in the glove box behind a panel that indicate relay. There are three relays in there, the middle relay is the fuel pump and one of the out side relay is for the A/C compressor and the other is for the third brake light. Just can not remember which out side relay is the A/C so just swap the out side relays with one another. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted.
