First of all if you live in a cold climate I never turn the radio on until the car warms up if you can remove the knob on the radio spray a light amount of WD 40 and then put the knob back on and turn it back and forth and if you have pop on your hand or water also dry your hands off before touching the radio the lights and the radio will last a lot longer also and also before leaving the car always remember to turn the radio off it will be alot easier on your battery as well

The volume on the radio is staticky when turning the volume up or down. How can I fix it myself? It is a 1960 Magnavox stereo console.

Yes. Get a can of tuner cleaner. Remove the knob and with the stereo off spray the cleaner down the shaft. Rotate the control a number of times. Replace the knob, turn the unit on and check it. Most of the time that'll do it.

Why can't I change my radio volume control

Double check the knob. If it does not match the "post or stem" on the radio itself, the knob does not go down far enough to engage the post, or is "stripped" OR see if you can turn the stem with pliers. If still can't turn with pliers, try WD-40 or equivelent on the stem, let soak overnight. then try.

Replace the volume control knob on my radio for 1997 camry

I have a question. I own a 1997 Toyota Camry. the on off controls for the stereo is really messed up. It is really loose to. But you can be driving down the road and it will go from low volumn to high volume. If I hit a bump or turn a corner it will either get louder or softer. What can be done.

Audi Delta CC Radio

Please perform the following procedures while the car is parked. Otherwise you risk getting into an accident while your attention is not focused on the driving. Entering anti-theft code The following is the procedure to re-activate the radio if the display shows "SAFE". It is important that the procedure be followed in the correct order.
  1. Turn on radio. The radio display shows "SAFE".
  2. Press the FM1/2 and DX buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on the display. Release the buttons. Do NOT press these buttons again, otherwise the radio will consider "1000" to be the code.
  3. Use Preset buttons 1 ... 4 to enter the four-digit code number from your radio card. Preset button 1 corresponds to the first digit, Preset button 2 corresponds to the second digit, etc. Each press of the button increments the number by 1.
  4. Once the code shown on the display is correct, press the FM1/2 and DX buttons simultaneously and hold until the word "SAFE" appears in the display, then release the buttons.
  5. The radio should unlock and be usable shortly afterwards.
  6. If an incorrect code is entered, the word "SAFE" appears, first flashing and then continuously. You can repeat the above steps to unlock the radio once more, the number of attempts will be shown in the display. If an incorrect code is entered again, you radio will be locked for about one hour. After one hour - the radio must stay on and the key must remain in the ignition lock - if the display goes out, the you can repeat the above procedure to unlock again. The cycle - two attempts, one hour lock-up - still applies.
  7. If you lose your radio code, contact your Audi dealer.

Other Preferences & Configurable Options The following is the procedure on how to access some other preferences that you may set in the Audi Delta CC radio.
  • GALA and Turn-on Volume Settings

    1. Turn off radio.
    2. While pressing and holding the TP button, turn on radio. "GALA" will be shown in the display.
    3. To select the speed at which GALA activates, press the tuning up (up-arrow) or tuning down (down-arrow) buttons to the left of the volume control knob. The display shows the following:

      __' Highway speed
      _'_ City speed
      '__ Slow speed

    4. To save the setting, press both the tuning up and tuning down buttons simultaneously. "GALA" disappears.
    5. Press the TP button briefly, "VOL" appears in the display.
    6. To increase or decrease the turn-on volume, press the tuning up or tuning down buttons.
    7. To save the setting, press both the tuning up and tuning down buttons simultaneously. "VOL" disappears.

To activate GALA, push the Treble control knob to let it spring out. Then, pull it out one more detent, and then turn the knob to the right. To deactivate GALA, do the same except turn the knob to the left. Push the knob back in when you're done.

Honda Civic Issue with Radio Volume Control

This is a known problem with the factory units and no, there is no fix. There is a series of checks you can do, but short of that the only option has been to replace the unit. I have included the graphic for the checks, other than that it is not fixable.
