There is also a fan relay, which you have to check. Benz relays burn out very quickly indeed compared to most other brands, and this is commonly, albeit not always the issue.

Why does my 1997 mecedes benz e420 run hot when I turn on the air conditioner

Couple of reasons. You may need to have the Radiator backflushed to remove sediment. You also have an Electric cooling fan which may be malfunctioning. They (fans) often have more than 1 speed and high speed may be broken so it can not keep up with extreme heat.

Some fans use more than 1 relay to switch the fans and the second stage relay may be bad.

Overall, the A/C coil is placed in front of the Radiator and depends on airflow to function. This makes the air available to the Radiator much hotter so the Radiator is having a hard time cooling the engine. The Electric radiator fans kick up the airflow to help both systems out.

A dirty radiator, old antifreeze, etc. can affect performance.

I hope my solution is helpful. Radiator shops can service most Brands.

The heater in my 1994 Ford laser hatchback has died.Any clues please?

When you say your heater, do you mean the fan does not blow. or no heat fan blows fine. If it does not blow. The fan is located in the passenger side footwell, Turn fan to high and wack it a couple of times on center of cicular lookin thing, easily replaced by removal of screws around outside. If the fan works fine and it blows cold air make sure temperature adjustment knob is workin fine, you should hear it change when adjusting. One other thing, if someone just flushed your radiator or anything similir to do with coolant, check for a air bubble in the system, purge air out of heater core lines with a garden hose.
good luck

Overheats, and wont switch gears at times.

Well overheating and not starting are possibly 2 different issues. Oil is not the cause of overheating. Thermostat, water pump, electric fans and viscous fan are causes for overheating plus the sensors that control the fans. Not starting could be caused by the overheating but most likely its a fuel or ignition issue.

Abs mercedes 1996 lights on

ABS--

Most likely cause is the 'stop lamp switch'
It is a electric switch located on the brake pedal inside the car, about half way up on the brake pedal.
Pretty cheap too, I think the switch is only like $25 bucks.
2 connectors on the switch and then it turns out.
hope that helps
Fan relay should be in black box near frewall
