I had the same problem on my wifes car only a few weeks ago and the problem was blocked fiters in the pumps for the front and back washers. You'll need to remove the drivers front wheel and plastic wheel arch cover. The pumps will pull out of the reservoir, use a container to catch the water, The filter is just a piece of wire mesh which can be eased out of the pump for cleaning

Yes it can be done. I removed the battery and tray and gearbox mount only then was able to wriggle the motor out (after removing sarter,alternator,power steering and air con compressor). Also removing the plastic cover near the front pulley helped. Need small hands! Good luck!

You have most likely crossed the leads try putting them back on in order, since it occosional pops it tells me you crossed the wires, and if it ran before this then that is your problem, you also could have broken the leads and would need to test with an ohm meter to see if you have.
