Remove the battery, then remove the battery tray, There are 4 bolts and there are also two small nuts those are for the washer fluid tank. You'll see the fuel filter clear as day. It is a black cylinder that is bracketed to the firewall.
Removing the battery tray bracket will give you clear access. DO NOT try to remove the metal line from the bottom of the fuel filter instead on the U shaped hose you'll see a connector remove it from there. I think you'll need a 14mm and a 3/4 wrench, then remove the bolt on top, remove the bracket holding the fuel filter and it will come out easily.
Makedo, you say the engine turns over, but does it start? There is no dedicated fuse, the fuel pump is powered by the MFI relay, and it has three fuses. You can check the fuel pump by turning the ignition to the on position, and running a wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the fuel pump test jack, it is a connector between the strut tower and the fire wall on the passenger side of the car.
Tucked down in there you will find three connectors, a black one, a blue one, and a round brown one. Run the power to the black one, (don't mess with the others). with the ignition in the on position (do not crank the engine), you are directly powering the fuel pump, and you should hear it turn on if it is working.
Its located behind the Washer bottle and Battery you must remove Battery Tray and Washer tank . hope this helps

HI, we have a 1997, Mitusbishi 3000GT, non turbo with some type of fuel issue. The engine turns over but we think there might be a clog in the gas line but we were told it might be a fuse or relay issue. We hope not a fuel pump issue. Where is the fuel box for the pump? And what fuse do we need to check? Also where is the relay for this? We thank you very much in advance for your help you could offer.
