Our 82 year old ladyfriend cannot get trunk to open with button on dash or by pressing open on her remote. Trunk will open with the key. She is afraid of getting ripped-off if she takes it to an auto repair shop. This car only has 22,000 miles on it and is kept in her garage.
Then use the key because the button probably has a short in the wiring

auto body tech said first check fuses. Then check gear shifter fully in "Park." Then have sensor checked if necessary.
mine just started doing this about a month ago. I think it is the popper because someone broke into my car and stole the amp and speakers. I also worked at a car wash at the time as well. my point in telling you all this is that when they broke into my car they punched out my trunk lock with a screw driver. well as part of my job I had to test the 3 automatic washes to make sure they were working properly once a day. so that hole got water in it 3 times a day for a year so I think the popper just finally got too wet and gave up.
